There's Some Mopar Attitude in the Honda CR-V Design (and Nissan Rogue May Kill Trucks)

I have been trying to figure out why there’s such a different vibe to the new CR-V. I’ve been seeing them on the road but today was the first time I’ve actually looked at pictures and that is a very American aesthetic. Like what a new Dodge Journey design should spawn from. Honda should make a three-row option (if it doesn’t already).

On a related note, the sales increase of the Nissan Rogue and Honda CR-V are approaching pickup sales. The scary part is that the pickups count their entire lineups, these two CUVs are just one model line!

March 2017 YTD Sales for the US

#1 Ford F-Series - 205,281

#2 Chevrolet Silverado - 128,467

#3 Ram P/U - 119,199

#4 Nissan Rogue - 101,421

#5 Honda CR-V - 94,057

#6 Toyota Camry - 83,459

#7 Honda Civic - 81,654

#8 Toyota Corolla - 81,435

#9 Toyota RAV4 - 80,533

#10 Ford Escape - 76,338

If Nissan counts the Rogue and upcoming Rogue Sport (Qashqai) sales together in the US then they could very well become the second best selling model line in America (including trucks). Think about how much that would completely change the industry and the products made for the US.

I see new CR-Vs all the time. I actually like them, unlike the current Civic and Accord.

I can’t believe the Rogue sales. It just proves how Americans will buy a vehicle based on looks, over everything else. Then Honda shows off the Clarity. It doesn’t have a chance, no matter how good it is under the skin. If they are smart they will redo the bodywork, and sacrifice 2 mpg. But they won’t.

I’m also very confused by this. Like, the Rogue has been around since 2014, it just got refreshed with some LED DRLs and other minor changes. It’s not even a particularly good car. Maybe Nissan is discounting the hell out of them? Maybe it’s being puffed up by rental fleet sales?

Just checked incentives... They’re pretty healthy.

$199 a month, give it back before the transmission fails, now it makes sense..
