Yea, I’m looking at this. a decent one is 6K up here.
1050cc...ABS. comfy. and it doesnt weight anymore then my SV does surprisingly.
or maybe an africa twin. buy one now, keep riding it as a commuter for the next 10 years. have a spare set of wheels with knobbies when I wanna go exploring.
also, I found out flat track school is only like $220 to do. I should look into signing up for one.
*looks in the mirror*
what the hell am i talking about. these arent even sport touring bikes, let alone another hacked together SV. What is happening to me?!

I’m at 10 atm. parents beg to differ to your theory.
I subscribe to it.

I’m pretty sure my next fun car will be a bike.

Well, it’s a more versatile Speed Triple. I really really want one to replace my Sprint ST. It’s hard to find them without a gazillion miles around here though. I also need a dedicated track bike before I need another street bike.
I say do it.

I was chatting with a guy who’s got a new Africa twin. He described it as just a “quicker klr”. He said it was super competent, but kinda soul-less....
But I’d still take one.....

for a commuter/go out deep in the bush, it needs to be exactly that

It’s a great bike, but the Tiger is much more comfortable to be honest. The Sprint is a looooong wheelbase bike too. It’s very stable, but the Tiger is more fun on a canyon road.
Only downside of the Tiger is the double sided swingarm. Not a huge deal, but the single sided arm makes a lot of maintenance really convenient.

hang on....could I (theoretically) get this, slap speed triple suspension on it, and have a faired ‘speed triple’ whilst paying ADV insurance rates?

“. . . keep riding it as a commuter for the next 10 years . . .”
LOL. Not with your history of shopping.

SUSH.
actually, its not THAT far off .I’ve had the SV as a commuter/nighttime hoon rat for 5 years now. for commuting its perfect, and id keep it for commuting if i could, and get something higher performance for the fun stuff. if I dont ride it as often, less miles on it, longer it lasts :)

Okay, I’m going to try to keep “hip” and “with it” . . . please educate me, what does SUSH mean?

Shush* I missed an H, my bad.
seriously though, could I just throw the speed triple swing arm and forks and have a cheaper to insure bike with nicer body work?

I’ve thought about the same thing haha. Although insurance on the Speedy isn’t bad where I live. I also don’t know if the shock linkage would be all wonky. Speedy fork with a shorter Penske shock would probably be the way to go.

“I’ll keep this bike as a commuter for 10 years” is about as believable as Dave Tracy making it out to MOAB in in project slow devil
