Kinja'd!!!

I need a book. Maybe a couple. Tomorrow I am flying to Singapore from Atlanta. I picked up Station 11 and Apollo Pilot by Donn Eisele. Anyone have any recommendations?

I’ve read 1300 pages of children’s books in the past week. Roald Dahl’s autobiography “boy” is good stuff.

Ok, how about something incredibly dated? I recommend “The Moneychangers” by Arthur Hailey. Parts of it will make you laugh out loud with their period-specificness, but it’s an entertaining read. It might be hard to find, though.

Shell Games by Craig Walsh is a fascinating look at the illegal trade of molluscs in the pacific northwest.

The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History was also a pretty good read.

Fiction or non fiction?

I spend a lot of time on your airline. Used to be ATL-AMS-HEL (or TXL) a lot, but in 2 weeks it’s ATL-DTW-PEK. Always in Y. :-(

At any rate I’ve got quite the library on my kindle to share...

The only thing bad about starting that series is waiting for the next one to come out.

Either fiction or non are good. I’m not in a particular mood. I was looking for a good history on the early soviet space program but haven’t found anything.

Thanks for flying with us. Sorry that it is always in the back. The first class product is pretty good right now.

Anything by Haruki Murakami, especially Hard-Boiled Wonderland And The End Of The World. A bit heavy.

If you want something more lighthearted, pick up Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett.

I actually read that the first time I went to Asia. Loved the book. The movie was ok.

There was a sequel, and a third one comes out this year. He also wrote another book called Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits that you should read.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula. If you haven’t read it. It’s a fascinating way to construct a story.

Also, are you a sci-fi buff? Because if you are, I can suggest some free novels available at the Baen Books free library.

http://www.baen.com/categories/free-library.html

Also, my library lets me check out ebooks. If your library does, it’s a great resource. I read the Magicians books that way.

And Finally anything by Neil Stephenson. People seem to love or hate Stephenson. His best book is probably Snow Crash, but it’s a bit dated cyber punk now. I like his historical fiction (Cryptonomicon and the Baroque Cycle). If you aren’t familiar though, I’d start with Reamde (sic):

I like the cut of your jib. I’ve read a good many of those. Blind Mans Bluff is great. Six Frigates is also awesome. I was looking at Paperclip and Scalzi is always good fun.

That fine line between FC and business is tough. We are going to a four class product with Delta One, Comfort Plus, standard Y and no frills Y. Comfort Us is pretty good, but I need to lay down to really sleep on a flight. A dressed down lie flat product would be interesting, but I doubt people would pay for the space. I’m am very lucky to be in FC for all the legs that matter. I am even getting top deck on the 747 on the way back.

I’ve ridden in comfort+ plenty. I don’t need lie flat, but another inch of seat width and wider armrests would be worth it. Like Air Canada’s product. One less seat per row, 36-38" pitch.
