Make sure you check the rear leaf spring mounts and tail panel for rust. under the doors is common too.

I can’t help you in the “what should I buy” department, but I can help in the “don’t buy a garbage f-body” dept. If you are looking at these longterm it is great just from a parts availability standpoint. I would throw a formula hood on it and a pair of honeycomb rims and call it a day.

There wasn’t a factory T-top option in 71. I think this was the first year or a year to early for the Hurst Hatches that predate the T-tops. Although 71 was the first year with optional cassette player, and the first for any car. :)

Harvy is an ‘80. I actually passed this to my brother when he turned 15. The 400/TH400 served me well for two years as my sole daily, then my interest went elsewhere when I got my ‘98 Z28. Dat LS1 tho!
The bird went through a few engines under his ownership, then sat for years while he went to school. Over the winter we began the tear down and rebuild, ripping it down to the shell and doing a nut and bolt restoration/rebuild on everything underneath. Floors, subframe, suspension, brakes, fuel system, engine swap, ect ect.
Right now he’s modifying the tunnel to clear the T56, then it’s a matter of bolting the LT1 in, plumbing up the fuel, plumbing the brakes and wiring the entire thing. Shooting for sometime this summer!
