I would love to play around with a cutaway like that, and actually see everything in motion. Some 3D visualizations are better than others, but it’d be neat to have a real hands-on demonstration that would let you manipulate the application of every clutch. I don’t know how you’d clamp the clutch-packs together in a cutaway, though.

Yep, I posted this knowing it was #UramboTauroBait. Notice a couple aspects of how primitive it is, like how it appears to have at least three planetaries(?) for relatively few speeds.

Oh God, I’m the poster boy for automatics now, huh? LOL #heathen
I had to look it up, since I’m not familiar with Hydramatics, but I guess there’s four forward gears in there. I only see two bands, and two clutch-packs, but from what I’m reading, there are also a couple of sprag clutches in there to round it out.

I don’t know about being an automatics poster boy so much as a *tearing down* automatics poster boy. That offsets the unholiness of an auto in action with the forbidden mystery and cracking of the seventh seal of taking one apart.

That Chrysler was only my second automatic! haha
I really wish that I had taken pics of my journey through a 4R70W for you guys. Now that was a proper RWD unit, from a Thunderbird. It was a neat experience.
