Kinja'd!!!

Its Friday (probably) so let’s get into (what’s likely) the weekend right and do some venting. Im thinking the driver side one since it doesnt get the kind of love it deserves. Post a pic of your driver side vent. Mine has an Xbox and a babymaker setting, and we all know where I keep it at.

My vent on my current vehicle isn’t all that special

Probably one of the only things I missed on my Nissan cube I used to have was the driver’s side vent. The vent had a cupholder right in front of it. If you had the climate control on it would essentially keep the drink hot/cold. I loved it.

I only have one car with a driver’s side vent in the dash. My Benz. The others all vent into the floorboard or in the case of the Rover, vent all the way across the dash. Like this:

Earlier higline fintails like mine have somewhat oval chromed vents at each side of the dash, with chromed pivots to control airflow. A very mid-century kind of design element that amuses people when they see the car in person:

The modern car is a lot more conventional, I prefer rectangular vents to round:

Mine are very uninspiring.

The defroster opening above the leftmost vent serves as an excellent zip tie anchor point for my lazy-ass accessory cable routing. The struggle to keep that “piano black” trim piece around the vents looking good is real though. At least the free-floating vent balls still hold their position well nearly 10 years and 100k miles into their existence.

The Outback XT on the other hand keeps with the vehicle’s theme of simple and functional. The climate control system it is attached to, however, is a hateful little piece of electronic hardware that likes to change settings on its own just to screw with you, even when not in Auto mode.

(pics grabbed from The Googles™ since both vehicles are currently several miles away)

Wait what year is your GC? My Dad got a 2016 Limited with the V6 in September. It’s a pretty nice ride

Mine’s a Laredo X from 2012, it’s been great! No repairs and very cheap maintenance between 34,000 miles to 101,000 miles. We’ll see how the next 70,000 miles (that’s 1.5 years) go.
