Kinja'd!!!

My old Defender is off the road today after displaying oil pressure issues while towing, so here’s my loaner ride! Land Rover people might be slightly mad, but at least they’re generous. Provided I replace the fuel I use, I have use of this D90 until I fix up the old 110. Not bad.

Nice! How does the SWB Sports Defender compare to your LWB cruiser? ;)

Or, rather, not nice as it’s caused by oil pressure issues...

The guy used to own pigs and hire out agricultural machinery. He should add nomenclature genius to his résumé.

You’re not far from wrong! If it’s the oil pump then it’s about 7 hours work, and while I’m in there I may as well do crank shaft seals and bearings casings while I’m at it. Gonna be a fun Sunday!

It has a radio and insulation, so that’s a start. Engine is better for towing, but the rest of it isn’t. Mine has HD rear springs and shocks and feels far more stable, less bouncy and less inclined to squat on cornering. I think the thicker sidewalls on my tyres helps a fair bit too. Overall, not enamoured, but beggars can’t be choosers.

You’re not wrong!

I like to call interiors like that ‘cockpits’ as ‘cabin’ seems rather disingenuous...

Yeah, the rear bulkhead in the 90 robs the legroom.

I have a rear bulkhead in my 110, it’s more the intrusiveness of the ridiculous dashboard that takes up all the space. Mine has no door cards and no centre console, it makes for a lot more space!

...while mine has greater space yet, having almost no dashboard to speak of and no console apart from a little thing set on the seat. Still hasn’t left me hankering for me door cards, though. Mine is supposed to have them, as a Station Wagon trim, but I’ve no great urge to put them back.

I’ve never had to do the pump on any of our older 2.25 dizzels, but I’ve seen the procedure. Probably a good call on the seals and a bearing inspect at the least.

I mean the cost of parts is so minimal that it’s worth doing regardless. Although knowing my luck I’ll do the front and then the back will start pissing oil out of spite.

Oh Series vehicles are the epitome of juxtaposed luxury. Plenty of legroom, but fuck all else :D

When the “luxury” options consist of badly folded grey vinyl over a bit of cardboard with exposed screws and fold lines, with bits glued in place, and having a canvas headliner, I’m alright with keeping things low trim, you know? Oh, and a bit of fuzzy mat glued to the bulk’ead, champion stuff.

Don’t know why talking about luxury trim on a Series turns me into a Yorkshireman. There must be a reason.
