Kinja'd!!!

Love the 240Z, not the 260/280Z 2+2. Quite probably my least favorite car, ever.

Edit/To reiterate: I’d rather DD a Model T. Seeing one is like a rake in the face.

Post your least loved car.

To lazy to post a pic, but probably the Dodge Neon. However I’m fond of Cavaliers and Escorts.

Sat in all of these as a kid (showroom) - I think this suffers from Golf syndrome. The first iteration was such a pure design that any follow-up would necesarily disappoint.

Kinja'd!!!

I bought a deathtrap for my first car. I’m lucky that I didn’t kill myself or anyone else behind the wheel of that decrepit thing. But it was a 1989 635csi with a 5 speed, one of only 200 examples imported to the US with the slim world bumpers and the upgraded M30B35 motor. It made a fantastic noise, had a leather-covered spaceship interior, and I loved it. It ruined all other eighties BMWs for me. So now that they aren’t even cheap anymore, I think E30s are over hyped, slow econoboxes that look like the cars I drew with crayons when I was a toddler.

My best friend in high school had a Neon as his first car. He was a car guy and therefore fell deeply in love with it simply because it was his first. I said nothing lol... didn’t want to kill the vibe. But he would whip that thing like it was a sports car, and the way it’d roll around and understeer at the limit was terrifying. And then there was the interior...

This is not, by far, my worst example, but it represents a steady design decline:

Worst is latest.

Probably the whole Fiat lineup. Maybe except for the 124 and 500 Abarth. But one car that definitely deserves to be put to rest is the Pu(n)to. Please Fiat, let it die for Christ’s sake. It hasn’t been competitive back in 2011 and won’t be in the future. Even a bare bones Polo puts you to shame.

They’re great cars. Better cars than an E24 in many respects, especially handling and parts availability. But now that they aren’t dirt cheap anymore I think you can get a way cooler vintage BMW with your $5000. We’ve reached the point where the E30 is such a desirable cult classic that it’s poor value if you’re just looking for a vintage BMW and don’t mind slightly more expensive parts. E12, E28, E23, E21, Bavaria. I would search for all of these at once instead and pick the best price vs. condition deal. But I also love anything old with a BMW badge on it so that’s just me.

I could still kick myself for not buying a E30 Touring in acceptable condition last year for a rather good price. Wouldn’t say no to an E28 or E21 either but the insurance sure would.

Yeahhhh the tourings are super rare. Why would that change insurance though? One is just a slightly older 2 door BMW and the other is a bigger E30?

Two things:

a) I’m located in Germany so finding E30 Tourings is an easy task.

b) Insurance for 20 year olds is never cheap, especially since it would be my first car.

But a halfway original old car is eligible for getting historic plates and therefore a bit cheaper to insure and roadtax is cheaper.

A Model T as a DD sounds pretty nice actually. I wouldn’t mind having one.

My dislike isn’t focused in any single car model. Some random modern crossover with a diesel engine, an automatic gearbox, a leather interior and red color combines my dislikes quite well.

ahhh ok I figured you must not be in the US. Euro insurance rates are insane. I was 19 when I had that 6 series and it only cost around $100/mo

E30s aren’t fast, but they’re pretty quick, and feel quicker. At least the ones I’ve driven that weren’t a 325e. They all need some level of attention now to be properly good to drive again, but they’re wonderful when the suspension has been worked on a bit. My friend has a ‘91 318is with H&R Sport springs, Bilstein HDs, an E36 steering rack, a 94 octane chip, and good tires. It’s wonderful to drive. The thing is, he bought his 6 years ago for like $2200, in nearly mint condition. A worse one is now worth like $7k or more. So if you’re set on an e30, they’re really great cars. If you’re just set on an older BMW, an E36 has a better chassis to start with, and the M50/M52. E28s are cheaper, and a chipped 5 speed 535i is a fast, really fun car. Again, H&R Sports, and Bilstein HDs. Those do have a steering box, and they’re a heavier, older chassis. Still fun to drive in a different way than E30s. I’ve driven E30s, an E21, an E24, an E36, E28s, E34s, E32s, and an E38. E36 has the best handling for your dollar/euro, E32s and E38s have a feeling that only a 7 Series can have, E24s have a similar, but different feel. E28s and E30s feel the most special to me, and others seem to agree, since the prices are a bit crazy. If you’re thinking of an E30 Touring, but want a safer and still fun car, there’s always the E34 Touring. It all depends what kind of driving you want to do, how much space you need, what sort of look is best to you. Also how important safety is.

He forget to tell that during the winter you have to jack up one of the rear wheels, because the (planetary gear) transmission will be too stiff to crank the engine into life.
