“There are a lot of potholes and shitty roads on my way to work, as well as a stint on the highway. A Raptor would solve those problems pretty quickly.”

What’s your terrible automotive justification for a vehicle you want but really don’t need?

“I miss having a back seat to put my bag/occasional 2nd friend in and I need the bed to take my tool box back and forth from school. Plus 4WD will be good when winter comes around, and the V8 sounds good. It’s obviously better than my S10 despite me having to take on a payment and it drinking gas and having more miles”

A Raptor needs no justification. Bad roads? Fuck your roads. Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.

Jaguar has made great strides in reliability since the XJS days. So, buying a used one now is really the responsible choice for a new car.

The new Z06 has a 7th gear and cylinder deactivation. I bet I could get 10 more highway MPG out of it. And look at the trunk space

And that is why I work in service. I’m only around the shiny things occasionally. Though it doesn’t help my bay is by the guys who do used cars all day so I see EVERYTHING in used inventory at least once.

Haha, this is exactly what I said! I mean they still use the same block for the supercharged V6 and V8 so the NA 5.0 is completely unstressed!

Your truck excuse is my excuse. My car now has a lower ride height and stiffer ride compared to my old car, and now I’ve become that guy darting around potholes and such (not to mention I don’t want to damage my new car/wheels/tires). It’d be nice to have a big, “fuck you world” kind of truck to drive over everything including the awful winters that cause so many road problems.

Kinja'd!!!

These are some of the longest running cars on the road, the 4wd body on frame capabilities are perfect for me, my wife and only child for almost any situation. I’d never need another car ever. This all more than makes up for 19 combined mpg.

Or sub in the new Expedition and add that an aluminum body won’t rust from the damp and salty Ohio winters

Justification? For a vehicle you want?

The word “want” is justification enough.

Damn you and your logic. Yes if you hit it wrong you can drag the hitch on the 4Runner on my driveway. No ball in it or anything just steep. That means I’d just have to take the other angle towards my house which has lots of awesome corners.

Ottawa. Everything’s thawed out over the last couple of weeks and on roads with a dividing median (say, a grassy area lined by curbs) the asphalt is so cracked and chipped that I think hitting one would result in some noticeable damage.

With the weather now consistently forecasting higher I’m about to switch back onto my nice wheels, but I’m afraid of damaging them.
