I’ve marked myself down in Texas, but being in eastern Texas, I doubt I’d actually be able to make any event. Even New Mexico is 450 miles away, minimum.

NorCal!! You can’t beat the roads and view over Mt. Tam and up the coast

Hwy 175 between Hopland and Lakeport (Mendocino and Lake Counties)...15miles of narrow, twisting lanes and fairly steep inclines. Not for the faint of heart. Icy/Slippery in winter.

Hwy 128 west from Highway 101 (Sonoma/Mendocino Counties)....not quite as curvy but beautiful. Takes you out towards the NoCal coast. Wine Tasting in the area.

Hwy 29...Calistoga to Middletown (Napa/Lake Counties)...features good inclines and YES!!! Passing lanes!!! Wine tasting at both ends of this drive. Icy/Slippery in winter.

HWY 36, 299 is gorgeous

I was thinking a Western meet should happen, but probably won’t be able to make one. Time and stuff. Hope something comes together!

The problem with Western meets, in my previous experience, is that stuff is far away on this side of the country. People will have to drive 12 hours or more from somewhere no matter where it is, so it turns into more than just a weekend jaunt, which keeps likely attendance down.

The problem is how spread out we all are. It takes me 3 hours to get to Portland — with speeding and no traffic (which is seldom — especially the speeding part for obvious reasons. I believe Vegas is 13-15 hours away. Salt Lake City is 18 hours.

I can still get to Seattle faster than Gendive Montana. That being said I don’t think I would drive more than 4 hrs for a meet up. That would put my radius at Spokane.

I really want to go to an oppo meet, but I don’t know when I could get enough time off work to drive all the way to whichever state this ends up in. Too few Canadian Oppos to do a big meet, and way, way too spread out. Also I need to get a passport.

I’d try, depending on location, but I would just be the old guy in the Tacoma. I’m sure you could recruit someone locally to stand in for me.

I’m out if it happens in July, though. I’m driving back east for a three week vacation in Montreal/NY.

I have the drivetrain to go through next, although that will simply be a swap, and scheduled for next year. Once that’s done, I’ll be confident driving the Cougar anywhere. I’m pretty confident today, just not as confident that I wouldn’t through a bunch of tools and parts in the trunk for a longer duration drive.

I’m in western Oregon, and I’d be interested, especially the weekend that was listed in the salt flats post.

Medford Oregon has a kart track that apparently a local sports car club uses. Could be fun either in cars or in karts. There’s also decent beer there, lots of mountain driving. For northern cal oppos it wouldnt be too far, and might be doable for some Seattle Oppos.

I was wrong. I did in 12. I wasn’t accounting for the time change. We used to drive to Boise from SLC all the time to get beer and lottery tickets. That drive sucks!
