$1.40? That’s pricy for a warehouse club. But it is Costco we’re talking about. Individual Mountain Dew Kickstarts and Rockstars at my work are $1.50 each, but a case of four Kickstarts is $4.44 (only $1.11 per can). And the store I work at usually isn’t Walmart cheap.

Yeah, the dollar amount represented in that picture is enough to give me serious pause. And I spent that money. And I have learned, in the last... uh... 16 years of recreational drinking, to be choosy, and also to enjoy the flavors of good beer, and leave the bad beers in the glass / bottle / can and just cut my losses.
However, I do enjoy the quest for new beers and love talking to people. And beers tend to bring out the most amazing conversations when people gather. So I am drawn to the stories and people as much as the beer itself.
A good, consistent (something the Germans excel at) Pils is a work of art. And honestly, what you can’t see from that picture is that I also have a mini-fridge that has Negro Modelo and Tecate sitting in it, which I drink when I just want something light, simple, and delicious. I might play a beer snob on the internet, but when it comes down to it, I just love beer in nearly all flavors (though some of the macros are... well... they taste as mass produced as fast food).

My brother, who is Ttyymmnn, BTW, is a bit of a beer connoiseur. Perhaps more than a bit. He tells me that ShockTop is a pretty lousy beer, but I’d be curious to sample some of those artsier ones. When I was in Germany I also enjoyed the Hefeweizen once in a while; they were just beautiful to behold in a tall glass and had a luscious flavor, but could get slightly cloying. Pils was the deal, in the tulip crystal glass, with the nice head of foam.

If you want that much caffeine, Rockstar has some other products with 250 mg of caffeine in one can.
Personally I can’t take that much caffeine anymore. I used to be a caffeine fiend but it was driving me nuts.
My wife was all about brewing half-caf (which I made fancy by mixing quality regular and decaf beans in our burr grinder) because she wanted to drink more coffee without getting jittery. But I’d drink a bunch of the stuff and it wasn’t quite enough for me and I’d still get other caffeinated drinks throughout the day.
Now I’ve secretly changed it up to a 2:1 ratio of regular to decaf beans in the burr grinder. It’s juuuuust enough caffeine from one mug at home and one tumbler-worth I bring to work with me that I don’t need any other caffeine throughout the day.
What a drug.

Thanks. It’s all good. When I actually quit, it was when I met my wife, who’d never drank a drop of anything. I didn’t like myself to be under the influence around her — or not around her, since why would I behave differently whether she was in the room or not? — so I just stopped drinking. Drinking was problematic for me anyway. Now, I have a caffeine dependency...
Enjoy your beer. I’m sure I’d enjoy you enjoying your beer if we were hanging out, but folks can get kind of useless to a sober person after a few...

My vote is coffee. An 8oz cup of coffee has somewhere around 90-100mg of caffeine. I have a 20oz insulated cup so that works out to somewhere around 225 to 240mg of caffeine. No cream and a couple of Splendas. Tastes great (to me) and only has something like 5 calories. Plus since I don’t drink it all at once I get a nice prolonged boost that keeps me going all morning.
But if I had to chose between the two above I’d probably go with the Rockstars so you don’t get all the caffeine at once and crash later.
Now if you want something you can add to water that has caffeine, doesn’t taste like crap, and isn’t full of sugar, check out Mio Energy. No sugar, about 60mg caffeine per cup (depends on the size of your cup) and they have lots of flavors that genuinely taste great. I’ve been using it as a replacement for sodas with my lunches... and ocasionally a replacement for my coffee when I run out.

And the rows with the Firestone Walker boxes go back all the way to the back with various FSW beers (the rest of the fridge does the same with various bottles from other breweries). The average ABV in there is somewhere around 11% and I seriously do not want to think about the cost. LOL.
