I’ve been putting together a model in SolidWorks Simulation since last Friday and I’m just now getting information out of it that matches the real world. What a pain in the ass.
Granted, we spent 5 minutes on FEA in school, with Inventor, and all my training on SW Sim has been between The School of Google and “I dunno, try this... ”
Razzle frazzin’ FMVSS shite.

Ugh. pair CATIA with TeamCenter and watch your system slow to a Java-infested crawl.

For a while I was just over-engineering because I wasn’t making things very expensive and as long as SolidworksSimulation says FOS is 5X my requirement it’s all good right? Wrong.
Then, when I learned more about FEA and started comparing my results to the professional FEA group at work, I finally understood and started getting results I trust.
Learning is great, so is having the time and money to do so, but jeez I wish I could have had more class time.
