Kinja'd!!!

Maybe when Buick starts selling their wagon and leads the revival of the wagon in the U.S. Subaru might have some motivation to bring over the Levorg... with three pedals... and an engine with glow plugs...

I loved my 1997 Legacy GT Wagon and the Levorg is within two inches in every dimension of that car. I don’t want an Outback, my girlfriend has a ‘14 and it is pretty awesome, but it isn’t something that I would like to drive every day. In my mind the Levorg is the Goldilocks Subaru for me, bigger than an Impreza, but smaller than an Outback. And, well, for me, I’m probably going to own a Subaru for the rest of my life. No, not because I vape, wear skinny jeans and put dual Hellas and Rally Armor mudflaps on mine. But because I travel with stuff, because I use my Subaru wagon as a wagon to put everything from a snowblower to dogs, to wood, and even spare engines in the back. I also live in northern Vermont where a Subaru is fun to drive sideways in the snow makes it much easier to get around during nor’easters that dump two feet in 24 hours.

Subaru, listening to enthusiasts?! Next thing you know Mercedes will bring back manuals, Nissan will green light the IDX and Porsche will stop holding the Cayman back!

On the bright side, Mazda is totally bringing a rotary rx9 into production this year. Scout’s honor

Do you really think Subaru can hope to compete with Buick in the practical enthusiast car market?

I think the next ‘wagon’, America would get if the Buick Regal sells well would be either the Ford Focus estate.

or the Ford Mondeo/Fusion estate (which is more likely, size for size).

For the record, in terms of size classification, Levorg is a C-segment like the Astra, Focus, and Golf wagons while the Regal TourX/Insignia Country Tourer is a D-segment like the Legacy, A4, 3-series, Mondeo wagons.

I wasn’t implying that Subaru would compete with Buick, but rather that Buick would revive a market for wagons in general. And hopefully start to draw people away from crossovers.

I don’t think they do either. Sales are therefore virtually nil.

I would love to see fusion and focus estates running around over here. Those are the kind of things that make me warm and fuzzy feeling :)

I’m guessing very warm fuzzy feelings if you saw a manual, diesel, estate ST-2. Lol.

I was thinking, a manual 2.0 petrol ST3.

The car below is a 2016 2.0 with 14,500 miles for £22,500

There is also the Mondeo ST-Line 2.0TDCi, it’s essentially a regular Mondeo estate with some ST styling cues added.

You could very easily add some performance to match the looks though.

I think the wagon will probably be a sales flop for Buick.

Regular car buyers (for the most part) buy the cheap and boring sedan, or they buy a CUV/SUV. Those that are in the SUV/CUV market won’t but the wagon because it doesn’t sit high enough off of the ground. Also, if they’re buying a CUV/SUV, they’re probably not all that concerned about gas mileage either, so that potential advantage is lost on them.

The sedan buyer will not buy it because they don’t need the space. And, the wagon/estate will probably cost more, which they don’t want to spend.

Sure, enthusiasts want them. But as a whole of the buying public, we are but a small section.

The Levorg is so pretty, I’d much rather take a GT one of those over a WRX.

I certainly hope they bring either of those to market. I have a Focus hatchback and it’s too damn small. I’m likely to trade up to the VW Golf wagon when I’m done with the Focus because the extra few inches in the hatch area are a huge increase in practicality.
