Doesn’t that happen to your exhaust if you take a bunch of short trips and it never gets a chance to heat up properly to completely dry out after driving?

Dang you now I’m looking:

Explains the 60k miles

You are welcome, but no Verts. The Targa is good enough

C4s are a dime a dozen. No need to buy a crappy one. I might suggest (cautiously, as the folks on corvette forums are quicker to start calling each other assholes than on any other car forum I’ve browsed) the various corvette forums. I tend to see pretty good cars listed on them. I’ve found that like most other big boy sports cars and exotics, the best cars usually change hands among people that already know each other (or know of each other), and they tend not to be listed for sale publicly all that often.

That is very true. I find that happens with the GTO guys. I’ll check it out. It was just easy to check out cause it was here at work.

By the way, what exactly are you looking for in a C4? I would be lying if I said that getting my old racecar going again hasn’t made the idea of selling my vette become something I am considering.

One that I could drive around for some fun at first and then turn it into a hoon mobile. But I am not really looking very hard cause I don’t really want to spend the money on another car till I figure out what I am doing with my 928.

Interesting. My LT1/6-speed would fit that bill. I’ll let oppo know if I decide to sell mine.

My old racecar is causing the racing bug to bit me hard again. My better judgment tells me daily driving a very nice (but old) corvette, playing with an old racecar and pressing my old escalade back into really regular tow vehicle use is just not a combination that is going to work. I’ve also got an old, rusty trailer that is the racecar transport mechanism. I think it would be a never ending maintenance and repair effort that I wouldn’t be able sustain and spend money racing at the same time. The only scenario I really see to make it work (and not completely destroy my budget) would selling the vette and going back to using a tow vehicle as a daily driver. Over the long-term, that would really mean a daily driver tow vehicle that is new/newish and that gets better MPG than ye old escalade. In this scenario, something like an ecoboost F150 could be in my future. A new trailer would also be in my future, but that is a comparatively small expense.

It would make me a bit sad to not drive something like the vette everyday, but then I start thinking about racing and realize that I can still get an adrenaline rush just thinking about races that happened ten years ago. The thought of hitting that crackpipe again is powerful.

Yes, let me know. Sounds like you have a hard decision to make.
