I’m going to order a set of Firestone Firehawlk Indy 500 tires in 205/55/R16 for the Mazda 3. Ultra high performance tires with a W speed rating on a car with 150 HP? Yes that sounds like a good idea.

I have those for my Fiesta ST. They roll decently well around town and handle the autocross and track days pretty well too. Good stuff.

Excellent. I was hoping to do an auto cross or two this summer.

I’m all about equipping the stickiest rubber you can afford on econoboxes. It really allows you to increase the limits of the car.

The firestones look alot like the the older RE11A’s, trickle down technology.

The Indy 500 is a rebadged Bridgestone RE003 .

It might be a similar tread design to the RE11A but it’s a bit harder of a compound for longer life.

These are the current hot cheap dual-purpose street/autox tire.

I have Kumho PS91s on my 335xi which didn’t get nearly the same hype as the Indy 500. Not quite as good for autocross but better in the wet and under braking.

I don’t autocross but I do drive in the rain.

Why not?!

A random note, I really don’t like the (look of the) tread of those tires at all... The asymmetry throws me off a little but I’m ultimately fine with asymmetric treads... It’s just SO asymmetric...

I know of course it’s designed like that for good reason - tires are, above all things, function over form.

I figured there was some re-badging going on there, it looked to well designed to be a true firestone product.

Just recently put on General G-MAX AS-03 on my E39, which are Ultra HP All-Seasons because Ohio and they were right there with top in its class while being 30 to 40 bucks cheaper. Love them so far and probably keep with them since they are so inexpensive.

I have bad experiences with Firestone HP All-seasons before and will probably never buy a Firestone tire again. Though they are a bit old now, so hopefully they have gotten better. I replaced them with BF Sport Comp-2 which are 10x better in the wet alone.

There aren’t really any “true Firestone products” anymore.

Firestone = Bridgestone

BFGoodrich & Uniroyal = Michelin

General = Continental

Even if they’re not a direct rebadge of one of the parent company’s products, they’re part of the overall product mix.
