Repost for day crew and a thought - vinyl wrap maybe? Could that be a thing to tint chromed plastic trim parts???
I want to tint the grille, door handles and possibly the bumpers of our new Ram 1500. Anyone have experience with Rustoleum’s Blackout or Duplicolor’s Shadow Chrome? Or have better ideas/products to look at?

I know that high-temp paints can be cooked onto shiny metal with some success. I do not, however, have any experience with a gloss chrome-cover product of any kind.

Probably gonna be tricky, other than bumpers, you’ve got coated plastic, not really chrome. Paint wants a scratched finish to adhere to, and may react poorly with the faux-chrome finish. Anodizing (same process to get “gold” emblems and nameplates) is probably your best, and most functional bet. Check with dealers in your area, we’ve got an independent company here in town that does anodizing as a service, you’d just need to remove the parts.

Dupli-Color Shadow Chrome ? I’ve seen this stuff around for a while now and was always intrigued by it. Never actually used it myself, but it does seem to have decent reviews.

That’s the stuff that is popping up in my searches. That and Rustoleum’s competing product, Blackout Chrome. I’m just not certain if it will provide the results I’m wanting on this Sea of Chrome® front end

Plastidip is perfect for this. You can go matte black then go over it with glossifier. Holds up well, but its reversible to.

Unfortunately no. It looked like chrome but with a black tint to it. Couldn’t tell it was an after thing.

Plasti-dip doesn’t provide the look I’m wanting. I want it still reflective and shiny like chrome, just darker.
