My Office is Closing

After waffling for months, it has been decided that my Pig Town office will be closing on Monday. The announcement was made today. It seems like my 4 mile commute is going to be a thing of the past. Luckily I get to drive 40 miles each way to get to our satellite office, which is furnished with loosening 9x9 floor tile and black mastic, no sink, and coffee water from the bathroom faucet. I suppose I’m lucky I still have a job.

If the satellite office is such a shithole wouldn’t it make more sense to make your office the new satellite location?

I’m one of two people in a 5,000sf office. It’s a very nice office. the plan was to have the Rockville office close (3ppl) and have them relocate to this office. Instead we will have a Regus office to meet contract requirements. Plus, the shithole in PG County is extremely cheap compared to the Pig Town office rate.

Oh. Yeah if rent is cheap at the other place I imagine there’s no shot. That sucks. And the fact that they are doing just enough to meet contract requirements, it seems like the company is in pure cost cutting mode.

They are in this region. Previous business was military JOC work, but now we’re transitioning to a split of JOC, State/Local, healthcare, and higher education. Honestly the other offices closing should have closed a long time ago, and this office was previously plagued by bad management and even worst projects, so I can’t blame them. It will still suck.
