Still making a strange noise at low RPMs. Can’t tell if it’s knocking or not, I just hope a liberal application of Seafoam helps. Looks damn fine, though.

Needs thicker oil that’s all. Try some chain bar oil.

Don’t actually do that tho.

Great shots, did you process these and/or take them with a DLSR? Epic lighting.

My first car was a ‘90. Different headlights. I miss it. It ran about 180k miles before maintenance overtook its worth.

I wish to own a late 80s/early 90s GM product again so I can drive around at dusk with my marker lights on like they did in all the commercials back then.

Thank you! They were taken on a Nikon D3300 with an older (80sish) 50mm f/1.4 lens. They came out great by themselves, and I didn’t want to bother loading up Lightroom so I just touched them up with the basic sliders in Google Photos. I completely agree when people say that a lame camera body with a good lens is much better than the other way around.

I read once in a Petrolicious article by Ted Gushue (he of godlike automotive photography) that he always shoots cars with the lights on because it makes them seem more alive. After trying it, I gotta say it makes a big difference.

hahah yes I KNEW it. Feeling validated x) phone cameras are so good these days that I never know when to compliment someone’s photography anymore. I’ve been dying to check out a prime lens, never tried one out but they seem to take the best car photos. I still have the baby DSLR my parents (who are the dopest, don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful!) bought me as a HS grad gift... and I’m 25 now lol. So 100% with you on the equipment woes. It isn’t even full frame.

Yeah, the D3300 is basically the VW Golf of DSLRs; it’s pretty cheap, but it cam compete with cameras five times the price for pure image quality, simply lacking their features. It hurts that it isn’t full frame, but I’m looking into a shorter focal length lens to help compensate.

hahah yeahhhh see the image quality thing is something I’m lacking, can’t wait for a replacement whenever that happens. but I just lost my job so... yeah. not a problem right now

You have the same camera as me! I’m new at the whole photography thing...what ISO/exposure, etc sittings did you use? I’ve been shooting in Program mode to give me mostly auto settings, but a few tweaks for myself, but I’m not very good in low light or high light/overexposed situations :(

I don’t remember what settings, for the most part I just set it to Aperture Priority (gotta get that depth of field), open it wide and then tweak the exposure. I find the camera is pretty good at choosing shutter speed and ISO by itself.

This one’s only at 122k, so I’m hoping to get a pretty long while out of it if nothing major goes wrong (i.e. manifold gaskets and I’m broke).

Mine had the 3.1 in it. I don’t believe the 3.1 is the same engine family as the famous Buick 3.8, but it was still pretty durable. And it clearly didn’t have too much power for the rest of the drivetrain because I never had transmission issues. I was constantly fixing brakes, and the door handle mechanism would break every winter (just like my buddy’s BMW!).
