Kinja'd!!!

This particular SR-71 logged about 2,800 hours of flight time in service with the US Air Force. It also set a word record on March 6, 1990 by flying from L.A to D.C in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

I love Udvar-Hazy. I actually went there a few years ago before I even was able to go Downtown to the Museum. If you can only visit one of the two, Udvar-Hazy is the one to go to. Also the Air Force Museum in Dayton - Very unknown and underrated.

Uh... the NMUASF gets over 1 million visitors a year. Hardly unknown.

Also, it is the world’s largest collection of military aircraft on display. With the addition of the fifth hangar I think total covered display area exceed 1,000,000 square feet.

The NMUSAF and Hazy are the among the top 5 places to visit for aviation nuts. If the NMUASF isn’t tied with the Smithsonian locations, it is certainly more impressive than the downtown DC museum on its own. Taken together they are incredible, but the NMUASF is utterly overwhelming in the sheee volume of aircraft and artifacts on display.

Plan on three full days of walking to see it all. I’m not exaggerating. (I used to volunteer there. They have so much amazing stuff on display you simply cannot see it all in a single visit. )

The other locations get over 8 million visitors per year and are the ones that everyone talks about. That’s why I say Unknown.

Discovery is looking pretty impressive in Enterprise’s place. Meanwhile, Enterprise has been broken twice since it was sent to NYC. Should not have been sent there without a proper plan to house it, especially when several other locations were willing to build proper indoor storage for it.

True that, it’s a treasured piece of history and should be treated as such!

I went there for the first time back over Thanksgiving as I was down there visiting family.

Holy shit it was incredible. We were only there for like 2 hours at most and we still could have been there another 6 or so if we took things even slower. It was awesome. They even had the Enola Gay when I was there!

It was shot using an iPotato, but if anyone wants the pictures and video I took, you can find them here:
