New tires, new fun!

Today I got to test out my new tires at a test and tune. It was sub 50 degrees at the start but as the day warmed up and my tires warmed up, everything just hooked together nicely.

It was just very nice having new tires and learning how they grip. Oh boy do these grip! Compared to my Hoosiers from last season, these are just so much more approachable. Perhaps less maximum grip but so much more communication of what is going on that I can certainly go faster with these. The limit is very progressive and they just have grip for days. Sure I was sliding around a bit as always but most runs were pretty clean, no spins. Throughout the day I just got faster and faster. Finally broke into the 39s toward the end and got my fastest run on run 17. What a great day!

I would totally give anything to have that FD though! That thing is beautiful in all of it’s rotaryness. I imagine he had to constantly worry about it blowing up so perhaps pushing it harder would have come with consequences lol. I did see he had to mess with an oil catch can at some point, so hopefully that was the worst of his problems.

I drove that car for a run before... It’s quite quick, to say the least, haha

Seen every one, will have to rewatch that one now! I like to say that RCR is the reason why i bought a Miata. That video literally sold me on it.

I have driven exactly three Miatas in my life for a combined total of 1 hour, lol.

I need to buy one of my own... and slicks look like a LOT of fun :)

Oh yeah certainly fun! An “interesting” experience dailying it as my only car. Definitely would like to limit it to autox/track/backroad use only some day. If there’s ever a chance to drive mine, you are certainly welcome to try it out! Slicks are hella fun haha
