I found an unattached  part in my engine bay and I have no idea what it is...

Kinja'd!!!

(edit: solved! Thanks for answering the questions that would get me eaten alive on the forums. You guys rock)

It was laying in the water runoff area under the hood, right below the windshield but before the engine bay. Any ideas? Is my engine about to blow up?

Looks like a spark plug lead.

That’s a spark plug wire/boot I think? Doesn’t look like it is from yours, so maybe it somehow got kicked up off the road into your pay (or maybe a mechanic misplaced it)

It looks like an ignition lead, specifically the one for the cylinder closest to the coilpack, judging by the length of the wire. Seeing you have other ones on it now, I think you might not explode.

I could be wrong though....

Oh, you’re totally right. I haven’t done spark plugs yet, I never realized they went so far down into the engine.... I wonder if the previous owner set it down there when he replaced them?

Don’t listen to everyone else, they’re all wrong. Trust me, I’m a professional. That sir, is your fuel emulsifier. Without it, I’m frankly shocked you’re still alive, let alone your whole city!

Now come to my shop and I will install a new one for the bargain price oppo discount of $10k.

Not to interfere with everyone else’s obvious shitposting, but clearly your car ate another car so it could consume its power. Have you noticed if any cars have gone missing in your neighborhood?

You do have tech in your name so I’m inclined to trust you... How much extra for you to cross-drill and slot my stainless brake lines? I heard it gives much better braking performance??

It must have eaten another Miata because we’re still slower than a Cadillac being pushed up the hill by grandma

And here I thought it was the connector to the flux-capacitor. That way you can go back to 1954 when you hit 88 MPH.

Oh now that’s a tricky one in order to do it properly. Most people do it a certain way, but let me tell you, their way is wrong and dangerous. My way (patent pending) is the only correct way. Unfortunately, it’s time consuming. Luckily for you, there is overlapping labor with the fuel emulsifier. I’ll do both for a total of $14,997. Normally it would cost double that. I’d really be doing you a favor and practically losing money at that price.
