“Mr Slick helped ensure the finger would reach London safely with the help of his friend, the Hollywood actor James Stewart and his wife Gloria, who were in India at the time.

They were to meet in the Grand Hotel in Calcutta, said Mr Byrne.

“They were a little bit worried about customs, so Gloria hid it in her lingerie case and they got out of India no trouble.

“They arrived at Heathrow, but the lingerie case was missing.”

A few days later, a customs official returned the case to the Hollywood couple, reassuring Gloria that a British customs officer would “never open a lady’s lingerie case”.”

Is this car related? No. But I really felt that everyone needs to know that Jimmy Stewart smuggled a part of a yeti hand out of India in his wife’s lingerie bag.

You keep using the word yeti, like it’s a real thing.

If it was real enough for Mr. Smith, it’s real enough for me.

I mean, even if yetis were proven to exist, that would not be more amazing than the fact that someone went to Jimmy Stewart and said “I just stole this yeti finger from a temple in Tibet. Will you smuggle this out of India for me?” and Jimmy Stewart said “yes, I will smuggle this stolen yeti finger out of India for you. I shall hide it in my wife’s lingerie case.”

Do you know a better way to do it?

Evidently not, since British customs officers never open a lingerie case.

I wonder if any of our British Oppos can confirm that this is still their policy, because I may start taking a lot of direct flights between Colombia and the U.K. for reasons.

what is a lingerie bag, i.e. what sets is aparts as an internationally recognisable thing (back then at least) that a customs official would know what it was and the it was the gentlemanly thing to do to not look.

even though he likely did look and upon seeing the “yeti hand” was terrified by the great unknown that is a womans most private parts that he never dated normarried

I was just wondering how you’d even identify one, since it probably didn’t have “LADY’S UNMENTIONABLES” written on it.

Google image search suggests that it may have looked like this:

Even if they DID open the case, do you think they’d own up to it or just close it and pretend for the rest of their lives that they never saw that withered old mummified phallic object in Jimmy Stewart’s wife’s underwear bag?

If it was me, I’d go out if my way to mention just how much I never opened that bag and didn’t find the mummy dick.

I have to imagine that opening it would have been an Ark of the Covenant face melting type deal.
