Kinja'd!!!

So I go to swap my wheels on the HEMIWagon, and am greeted by this sight on both sides.

Looks like I need new boots sooner than I would like to have to replace them. Steering rack is only a month old even. Ugh.

Whatever, swap worked out great, its an SRT rack in my RT. Everyone told me it wouldnt work, so I made it work. Cant stand people who dont bother to actually look at parts diagrams. Their loss.

That boot should basically never rotate. I’ve had multiple vehicles that his 200k mile on the factory boots with nary a twist.

I think your inner tie rod may be rotating. That could definitely be dangerous if it backs all the way out. Could just be a loose clamp on either end though.

*Disclaimer -I’ve never owned a dodge car, but multiple vans\trucks from them and many other foreign and domestic cars and have never seen this under normal operating conditions.

“Everyone told me it wouldnt work, so I made it work”

Hearing “can’t be done” is serious motivation. Uncle Bumblefuck AvE covered the word “can’t” in a recent video. Can’t means won’t with an excuse attached.

How did those boots get twisted like that?

I think it was twisted during the alignment, which is what frustrates me most. I loosened the clamp and fixed them, but yes, they should never rotate.

So I looked at exploded parts diagrams and found that despite the 90 degree difference in rotation, there are ways to make up the difference.

Boot probably rotated during an alignment. Frustrating for sure...

Who gave your boots a wicked titty twister?

That reminds me, I need to go max out my positive caster. That SRT rack is excellent proof that if one ever wants to light a fire under a person’s ass, “it can’t be done” will pretty much guarantee that it will get done.

You have a Magnum? I swapped my wheels on Wednesday, right before we got dumped on again by Mother Nature. And because of having excellent luck I wound up with 4 broken lug studs in total. Mines a 2006 Magnum RT AWD.I got these Heritage wheels for a smoking deal.

I do, mine is a 2005 RT RWD. The horrible Chrysler transfer cases kept me from considering the AWD cars entirely.

I have a decent amount of work into mine, diff swap, suspension, wheels/tires and interior bits as well. You can check the HEMIWagon tag for more details (oppositelock.kinja.com/tag/hemiwagon), but not quite everything is covered because the build has some secrets that will never be quite revealed.

They both have a bunch of pinholes in them. I’m not thrilled. I’m not about to go buy new boots today, but I know I will have to sooner than anticipated.
