How disappointing is this car? No manual (except on the Q4, I guess), very expensive (starts at 38k) and boring engines. Then seeing it in person is just kinda.... meh. I guess it drives the right wheels.

It seems like no one has mentioned it in months.

You forgot the interior quality on par with my wife’s car. Lots and lots of cheap hard plastic.

The average price of a car is right around $34k. How is $38k for an Italian luxury vehicle “very expensive”? Makes sense that only the performance model would come with a manual.

I think it looks great in person, and the chassis dynamics are supposedly fantastic.

shitty interior not commensurate with the price, and most likely poor reliability

have you been in one to confirm? interior doesnt look any worse then a BMW, and no, cheap BMW interiors are horrifically bad.

Seen a BMW in the last fifteen years? Also since when does reliability have anything to do with how much a car should cost, and how do you know how reliable they are? Have they even sold any yet?

Which means it is also on par with BMW.

I think one problem is that it wants to be an 3-series fighter, but the Quadralateralportfolio has a higher starting MSRP than an M3. Though I’m sure you can option an M3 up to some ungodly amount... But still, I think Derg Damero drove an Guilia that was over $80,000...

I haven’t driven one yet, but I did spend some extensive time in and around a 2.0 Ti Sport Package car at the Auto Show a couple days ago. The paint finish is great, the seats are good, the metal column-mounted paddles feel fantastic, the infotainment is actually pretty good and easy to understand, the Harmon Kardon stereo is good, most switchgear feels up to par with German rivals, the rear seat is roomier than many in the class, and the trunk is nicely sized and shaped. The doors and trunk felt nice and solid when latching closed, and the exterior panel gaps were tighter and more uniform than the gaps on the 3-series and 2-series at the show, and on par with the current C-class. The dash top was soft-touch plastic instead of stitched material, and the one token USB port for rear seat passengers seemed a bit cheap, but overall it was quite good.

The ones I saw at an auto show had pretty paint. Maybe better to lease than buy the initial launch though, and the FCA switchgear is noticeable.

Now I see you’re not trying to have an actual discussion about the vehicle. This isn’t a Honda Accord.

I personally think it’s just plain ugly and you absolutely couldn’t *pay me* to drive an FCA product that’s essentially 100% new. The fact that it uses a 3/4 488 motor in the Quadrafilgio is kinda cool, I guess.

A Honda Accord’s interior is better equipped and better designed for less.

You should probably buy a $38k Accord then. Maybe 1 1/2 V6 Mustangs...

Someone who buys an Alfa isn’t buying it for the interior. When I bought my Abarth it wasn’t for the interior. When I bought my ‘66 GMC, it wasn’t for the interior. When I bought any of my motorcycles, it wasn’t for their interiors. Alfas are for enthusiasts, not soccer moms, who gives a shit about what the dash feels like.

So we agree it’s not a luxury car.

But it ALSO doesn’t give anything else that enthusiasts like. Like an interesting drivetrain.
