I am posting about a
column written by the Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan
. Peggy Noonan generally annoys me with her conservatism beyond the point where I can make it halfway through one of her columns. Here, she soberly lays out her concerns about the current POTUS. It’s not good.

It makes sense that conservatives are hopping the ship as soon as trump is becoming less popular than herpes.
Don’t forget that 2 months ago she was declaring trump the next Reagan. Even the sun sometimes shines on the proverbial dog’s ass.
It’d be nice if this was an ember of hope for R’s to put nation over party but it’ll be snuffed out the next time a leading democrat says something stupid and easily twisted out of context. Like next Tuesday.

Yeah. I don’t want to post only glib, useless things. That Peggy Noonan has shifted course, I believe, is worthy of note. I am astonished at what a poop show this is, and I don’t assume that Trump actually

Prominent conservatives have been popping up here and there for nearly 2 years now. They’ve kept falling back in line with few exceptions.
Don’t forget the adulation he recieved for not sticking his foot in his mouth in that joint congressional speech. Short lived, but many people in politics and media are desperate to push a normalized competent political narrative if trump would just let them.

It’s fun when even NPR says there is rampant incompetence! This guy needs to drop dead of something, I don’t care what. about a year Sam Harris had a quote along the lines “if I would describe the president, is going to review the facts, speak with experts and make a sound cool decision, when comparing trump and clinton, there is no way you could say that sentence referring to trump.”
It would be entertaining if the ramifications weren’t so great, it has been interesting watching 2 of my coworkers go in circles trying to justify his tweeting “he’s new to the job!?!?!?” “he reached too far with healthcare”
It was the first thing he said he’d do/fix!
Last year I heard the phrase “you’re over reacting, he’ll calm down after the election” “we need the adults back in washington, to run this country”. Do the adults tweet at 6 am? The odds of a 70 year changing their habits is about as slim as winning the lottery.

honestly, I pegged him as a narcissist long ago. Orange Julius Caesar is far more enamored with the idea of being “President Donald J. Trump” than he is with actually being president. He’s incredibly vain.
there was a thread on TTAC yesterday where someone advanced the notion that Trump’s win is “burning the barn down to rebuild again.” But given the regressive policies of the people he’s surrounding himself with, I don’t think anything is going to get rebuilt. The barn is going to be burned down, and- like Detroit- is going to be left as a pile of scorched rubble while a handful of people make a lot of money.

honestly, to me an honest-to-God conservative isn’t a bad thing. IMO “conservatism” doesn’t mean “opposed to progress,” it means “we need to think things through and be sure we take a carefully considered approach to progress.”
Unfortunately the (R)s are not conservative. they’re regressive. They want America to “go back” to something it never was. They watch re-runs of Leave it to Beaver and think they’re documentaries about 1950s America.
