Whoa... When I was younger I played flight sim 98 or some year around there with a shitty dell computer. I distinctly remember this airport and would always go there. Cue me being a bit older and flying in to Chicago a few times but it was never like the flight sim. Now it all makes sense!

Fuck Daley. Think there’s a few mods that bring the airport back into FSX. I enjoyed flying out of it or making fuel stops there when playing.

Just to the west there is also the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum (natural history, huge T-Rex skeleton.). You could easily spend a day at each one. The area is called Museum Campus and is easy to get to by public transportation.

Yeah, I’ve been, but not for a long time. I intend to spend a whole day at the Museum of Science and Industry. My wife and daughter were just at the aquarium and loved it.

It has to do with how the lake front is considered to be park land set aside for the public. I think there were attempts to halt it legally but since the plan was to return park land to actual park land there wasn’t much legally anyone could do to stop it.
The sucky part is that the next closest small airport is the Palwaukee Municipal Airport whose name changed to the Chicago Executive Airport after Meigs was shut down. It’s 18 miles NW of the city.
