Kinja'd!!!

Has anybody here done a seat swap from one oem seat to another? On a general scale of 1-10, how hard was it?

My Si’s seats are fine...till about an hour into a drive and it just becomes horrible for the lower back. Apparently Integra Type R Recaros do fit...and I had ideas.

Disconnect your battery before you remove the seats, and don’t connect it until your new seats are in. Newer cars can trigger a fault, and have a warning light come on the dash if you don’t.

Do you have side airbags and do the new ones also have side airbags?

I’ve only done a few mid-’90s Ford seats (nothing with airbags), but I’d say it’s pretty easy. In many cases, it’s nothing more than four bolts/nuts and some electrical connectors. Sometimes I take a seat out just to make working under the dashboard easier.

As I understand it, 4th gen Prelude seats fit in Integras and are popular swaps because they’re made by Recaro.

Should just be 4 bolts under the seats. The issue is going to be the car freaking out about the missing airbags.

If they fit, it’s just unbolt, somehow extract from car without scraping everything with the rails, somehow jam the other ones back in after a thorough vacuuming/treasure hunt where the seat used to be, bolt back down. Airbags just need battery disconnected meanwhile normally, and maybe there’s a few extra plugs for butt-toasters and so on.

I did run Celica seats for a bit, but the amount of metal I had to bend and cut was a huge PITA, and many rails nowadays are riveted onto the seat frames.

In the Supra I upgraded the stock Generic 1980's Toyota seats to the P-type’s recaros and it transformed the interior. May be the single best upgrade I’ve done.

Super easy 8 bolts between both seats.

I have airbags in the seats, which is my big hold up as the Recaros do not

I can’t remember what exact year Si you have but I’m assuming it’s a K24 sedan. If that’s the case, what about the seats from an EP3? They’re basically the same as the RSX but the upholstery would better match yours. Looks like in this picture they have side airbags, at least in some years?

I heard EP3 and EP Type R seats don’t fit in my car :(, which sucks cause I know they’re so comfy.
