In fairness, I just got rid of a truckload (literally, my truck was full) of parts for cars I don’t own anymore last week, so adding these isn’t so bad. I will own another Z-car someday, it’s just a fact. And when I do, it shall be louvered.

I’ve picked up a couple things for hare-brained schemes (UJM carbs, blown WRX turbo) but never paid money for them.

I have for future indeterminate use a set of three ‘70 Chevelle headlight surrounds, and stashed away are a set of what may be late Model A aftermarket headlight units, and some other stray things. If I ever went to swap meets, I’d be in trouble.

Makes perfect sense. I have a set of kingpins for a Model A still in their box somewhere, grills for BMWs I don’t have any more, most of an Audi 4000 in boxes, random turbo bits, etc. And that’s after chucking a bunch of stuff last week. I don’t go to swap meets ostensibly because I’m a broke dad with no time for projects, but also secretly because I know I’d come home with shit I have no use or space for, probably even whole cars on a trailer that I also don’t own. If I had a trailer, this shit would be on a whole different level. I can’t even imagine what would happen to me at places like Hershey or Beaulieu.

My dad has a garage full of parts for every car. He actually checked when I got the Tercel to see if he had an extra center cap for me, as mine only came with 3.
Also chimed in to say that of course it will be louvered. Louvered Z is best Z.

I’ve not got any parts for cars other than the one I own at the moment, but I have a nice list of FIAT 126 parts to order that I intend to get around to before I ever even get the car...doesn’t hurt to be prepared!

I’ve done that before with cars and guns, though I typically have enough self control to buy parts for stuff I don’t own just before I buy the actual object.
Just be careful not to get golden ruled - where you friends, family, and random internet strangers bully you into buying the whole shebang when you have something as minor as a hubcap or shift knob.
