Going through my parents old stuff and trying to sell some off the excess. I figure online is the simplest, but considering shipping/packing costs etc may be hardly worth it. Local facebook trading post is another option, but ugh people. Plus, I live in a small market. Is it worth bothering antique stores directly?

Any oppo advice? or anyone wanting a GIANT antique beer stein (among other things)?

Consignment stores are a good bet if you’re not in a rush, drop the stuff off and let somebody else deal with them. A lot of the antiques places near me are going to ‘mall’ route, lots of sellers have actual stores set up inside them rather than everything being the seller’s stuff.

USPS flat rate. The boxes are even free in some cases.

The vintage knicknack market is tough, as many once-collectible things are not so popular anymore, and sometimes the opposite is true, too. Maybe just have a garage sale - many people lie and call it an “estate” to lure in more buyers.

Probably the best bet is an Antique Consignment store. They’ll know the market value, and be able to sell the items without much (if any) haggling. If you sell it yourself locally, chances are one of these sellers will come beat you up on the price, and it will end up in the same place anyway.

Sorry, I’m only 41. I qualify as classic, not antique.

I mean if you post up pics of what you want to sell I bet there are Oppos that would buy some, but consignment would be easiest.

My grandparents had an antique store. selling them is unlike most merchandise as the styling is usually unique and often fits niche tastes. Items will typically sit on a shelf for a while. Its why when people give the pawn stars or american pickers crap for offering 60% its not insane. as it may sit for 6 months or a year.

I would try local craft fairs, or maybe the consignment option if you want someone else to do the work, though you may git a bit less. best price may be ebay, but also the most shipping hassle. at least with ebay you don’t have to negotiate with hagglers.
