You should learn a thing or two! I actually found this interesting since the 70's are later than any history course I’ve taken, has gone to; but far back enough no one talks about how it affects modern times.

I like the brothers, and while some of this is a bit...loose and fast with the details and causality (I wouldn’t give full credit on an exam, for instance), it’s fun and punchy.
But, as bad as it was in the US, the malaise and oil shocks were even worse in some other countries. See, for instance, my fun nighttime reading (which I imported from the UK, because Amazon wouldn’t sell it to me direct...thanks Bezos)
But the “crisis of confidence”... ugh.
(PS: Doc’s diagnosis for the 70s is: a nasty hangover from decades of demand management macroeconomics (both politically and economically) combined with structural adjustment from the end of Bretton Woods. A nasty cocktail.)

What does it say regarding the effects of the late entry to the EEC? Britain assumed it would be granted membership in ‘62, and many companies geared up for untaxed access to the European market. When De Gaulle vetoed it, it basically created the whole BL debacle and wrecked the UK car industry from over a decade of isolation (and I’m willing to bet it had a similar effect on most other manufacturing industries).
The reason I ask is I’m fairly certain that exact economic crash is about to take place post-brexit if we can’t gain access to the EEA.
