To lease a Jeep Cherokee or 2nd gen Compass?

I love everything about the two in trailhawk trim and the Cherokee TH is going for up to $7k off msrp.

But, it’s an FCA product and that’s a large red flag. How bad of a decision would it be to lease one?

Leasing isn’t a terrible idea because you’re giving the car back before it goes off warranty. Just make sure that their lease rates are competitive with similar vehicles from other manufacturers.

Just remember than if you go into the dealership, negotiate the final purchasing price first and then worry about money down and lease payments. Don’t let the dealer make you negotiate in terms of payments only: focus on the price and how much off MSRP you’re getting. Its a common tactic for dealers to mess around people by only talking in terms of lease payments and not let them realize that they’re actually paying close to MSRP.

Leasing is the way to go. Bad reliability and resale won’t hurt you much. Because you’ll be turning it in by the time those become issues.

The Cherokee with a V6, because that 9-speed with a 4-cylinder is terrible.

I vote new Compass. It looks freaking fantastic, should be cheaper (though with Lease, who knows) and is the latest and greatest. The 2.4L and 9-speed have been around long enough that I wouldn’t worry about it. 9-speed issues have died down significantly.

That’s what I’m figuring on, I figure any new car should last 36k miles lol

3 yr / 36k lease, 3yr / 36k warranty.

If anything, that’s the best way to do it. Make sure you negotiate a good deal, and the mileage limits work for you. Then give it back after 3 yrs and repeat.

Skip the Cherokee, because that 9-speed is terrible.

FTFY

I mean I wouldn’t get either, but it is the least worst. Plus, if it’s a lease it should be fine enough

Oh they’ll both “last” to 36k, no doubt about that, but you’ll have made quite a few trips to your dealer in that time.

This is FCA: You’re gonna use that warranty.

Yeah, I guess I took that out of context. I just realized this thread was about two different vehicles, I read it initially as about whether or not to lease a jeep...
