Camry XV30 like this.

Kinja'd!!!

Withdrawn from the European market in 2004 as it had become too Americanised (big, bland, no diesel).

It’s a Toyota so it should be reliable and keep going for years and years and as the youngest are only thirteen years old there should be a fair few left, right?

Nope. Not a one, or hardly any. The same characteristics that forced it off the market in the first place mean that nobody wants to know about used ones so they’ve gone to that great crusher in the sky.

Next time I see one here, I shall take a photo. They are rare, but they exist.

Dodge/Plymouth Neon. When I was in high school they were literally everywhere. I swear every 3rd car I saw was a neon. Hell, half my friends had one. Now, I think there are maybe 3 left on the road. I see more i8's than Neons anymore.

I recently saw a Camry, parked on a lot. One of the generation previous to the one you meant even. I told myself to take a picture but forgot none the less. I wanted to park my car next to it, they were in somewhat of the same segment at the same time, although my Italian built French car has a much higher survival rate.

The last generation of Camry, the one in your picture, sold horribly here. The ones before did slightly better. Anyway, I don’t know about Ireland but unpopular Toyotas, especially sedans, tend to be exported from here to Africa once the second owner has had enough. I don’t believe we have that many octogenarians who want a used large not-tall boat.

Market share of the Camry in the Netherlands. I bet the 2008 0.01% minirevival was due to privately imported hybrids as the Camry was officially discontinued in 2004.

That’s because they were disposable crap. I dated a girl with a first gen Plymouth Neon in 2001 that had almost completely fallen apart. Remember the first gen was sold through 99. I remember first gen Neons with paint worn down to the primer and visible fender rust before the second gen even went on sale.

not gonna dispute that, they were clearly crap cars. But you’d think with millions upon millions sold they’d just be uncommon not downright rare.

Yeah it’s pretty amazing how quick they vanished, but so have all Cheyslers of that era - when’s the last time you saw an Intrepid? Also, the Neon’s competitive set is pretty much gone too. I rarely see third gen Escorts or third gen Cavaliers/Sunfires that used to be just as plentiful. Heck, I barely see even see Cobalts anymore. I think their popularity may have worked against them - they were so plentiful and cheap on the used market that it became more cost effective to just scrap them than fix them. That or they’ve all been exported to Latin America.
