It’s a sign, not a cop dot jpeg

Same thing with traffic cameras, they’re not cops. So they can fine you, just not do anything with points.

I always wonder about these signs. If it’s a public road paid for by taxes, how can you say that nobody can use it?

Then again, I also hate all the speed bumps that they put on roads to make them less functional and harder on cars...for the children.

Had a road like that around here for 3 years there was a bridge that needed replacement and they wanted to limit traffic on it while the pissing match between the county and city over who paid for it was ironed out.

Theres a route I take to my kid’s daycare that brings us through a neighborhood like this. They actually created a dead end to keep people from using it as a shortcut (wall dividing the street so its not a clear shot anymore) and have speed bumps. However, the speedbumps are low and wide enough, that I really don’t need to slow down for them. My truck just breezes over them.

This exactly. There’s a road near me that is a perfect hypotenuse of a triangle, so obviously you would take it. It’s the worst kind of rule that’s only really published as a deterrent, as it’s completely unenforceable. “I wasn’t going through, I was looking at a property on this road.”

By “Strictly Enforced” they mean, “Completely Unenforceable” because I was just looking at a property along this road...” really any reason you can think of. Public road? F you I will drive here, thank you.

I used to cut through a neighborhood that had “no thru traffic” signs. If the roads are funded by tax dollars and not private property they have no right to deny you access. They opened another road or widened the main road (been a long time) so no need to cut through anymore

Hell, I had a, possibly drunk, old man stand in front of my car and cuss and scream at me about cutting through the neighborhood. But the thing is, I live in the neighborhood. I yelled back at him and then mentioned it on the Nextdoor app. Several people commented they knew the guy personally. No issues since so I think someone said something to him. He does still give me the stink eye when I see him.

Fucking NIMBY’s. Probably had an issue in the past with truck traffic so they had a bake sale and put up some signs.

That must be like the “Strictly Enforced” speed limit signs you see all over Delaware - they’re only put up in the areas that aren’t strictly enforced. The speed traps that always have cops posted are the areas that go from 55 to 35 without any warnings.
