I like corgi’s a lot, my only problem with them is the shedding. I have heard they shed pretty bad!

It’s only the best thing they could do ever ... we adopted Yoda and Vader right about 4 years ago, and it’s all good:

I wouldn’t dream of speaking for Her Majesty, but I’m sure Her Majesty would approve of this.

I have two, and while they shed it’s not too bad.

I have one she’s not too bad, but then my last dog was a lab, nothing sheds like a lab.

My folks have springer spaniels and they barely shed so I am not really used to dog hair all over the house.

Thanks, they are pretty great! Although they get a bit bitey because they are still basically puppies and get way too excited over basically anything.

This is true. Their last corgi, at least the female one, was a princess through and through. And she hated the other 2 dogs (male corgi, her brother, and a female english bull terrier).

Unfortunately Her Majesty isn’t breeding them or having any more as the rest of the family show no interest in the breed.

Princess Beatrice has a terrier or two I believe but the rest of the family have no interest.

Aww, so cute! And they looked quite content.

My folks had 2 corgis before (brother and sister) that they brought from a breeder and they were great. They were thinking about buying again when they saw the adoption ad in the paper. The couple they adopted from had bought them as pups and then both got injured (woman in a car accident, man had a botched knee surgery) so they just couldn’t take care of the dogs anymore. Turns out they went to school with my mom’s older brother and their son is dating one of my mom’s friends. So naturally they had some good references who all recommended my parents as the perfect home for them to go to. Small world.

She has had several English Bull Terriers (my parents used to have one of those and 2 fawn colored corgis similar to the 2 pictured). Once of her bull terriers once killed one of the queens corgis. It was a tragic affair.

But you’re right, I’d heard the queen was not going to have any more, which is kind of sad. They are fantastic little dogs.

A corgi sheds enough hair to make another corgi on a daily basis. Daily brushing is supposed to cut way down on it, but my folks were not good about this. I can tell you that if you don’t do anything you’ll quickly end up with tumbleweeds of corgi hair.

That’s the only reason why I wouldn’t get one. My buddies family keeps theirs outside probably because of this.

So much yes. When my parents got the first 2 I was dead set against it because I didn’t even know what a corgi was. I thought they were little yappy dogs, like a chihuahua or yorkie or something. Boy was I wrong.

The female was a princess, through and through, and was definitely the pack leader. Even our bull terrier cowed to her. And the male was a German Shepherd in a corgi body. He was fun and lovable but ferocious when he needed to be. Our neighbors dogs, a black lab and Chesapeake bay retriever, were absolutely terrified of him.

Small word indeed ... and best names for a brother/sister duo I ever heard? Two cats I knew in DC - Wednesday and Pugsley.
