Get a labradoodle instead. The in-laws have a golden doodle and it kinda dumb for a dog. Don’t know if it’s typical but every labradoodle I’ve met has been wonderful in its behavior

They get REALLY fucking big.

Friend has one. It’s huge, but not very bright.

I’m used to a 90lb yellow lab so I’m not too worried about size.

Corgi is the answer, they are the best dogs.

If they look as derpy as the dog in that picture, you might want to find another breed

They Seem like nice dogs, and they get very large. I’m partial to rescue dogs myself. Our current dog is a rescue animal and he has been great. The last time I experienced a bred dog it turned out to be a psycho German shepherd.

Our neighbors have a labradoodle that has a great personality. It gets along great with our chocolate lab.

I just don’t like any of those fluffy poodle crosses. Shiba Inu is the answer. #2 on the healthiest dogs list, smart, clean like a cat dog. Can go in the cold if you want to. This is Komugi, my sister in law has him in Japan. Foxy.

I can’t remember if it’s Golden Doodles or Labradoodles but one is prone to humping apparently. I know of two and they both hump . I die laughing every time.

Great dogs, and when they are puppies they look like Muppets. My biggest concern would be genetic problems that come with pure-breds (ok I lied, I’m super into dogs and lean heavily toward rescuing mutts. Pitty mixes are actually the best dogs. Robust, smart, highly trainable). Back to your original question: I have a couple of friends with Golden Doodles, and they are wonderful. I love all dogs, though, so my opinion is pretty useless.

She has a knack for causing mischief however possible. She also picks fights with our other dogs and does stuff to piss them off on purpose.

A few of our friends have some and they’re all very sweet and active. One has bad separation anxiety and another has some kind of kidney issue. Either of those could appear in any dog though. Overall they seem to be great dogs, kind of dumb loveable goofballs. Never seen them cause problems with people or other dogs.

As someone who has had numerous high-energy dogs (Aussies, Dobermans, GSPs, German shepherds, etc.), I will say that unless you have an honest hour every day where you have absolutely nothing to do, don’t get a high energy dog. You need that hour to train them and exercise them, every day , or they will destroy everything and be absolutely uncontrollable.

We have a Great Dane right now, and while she doesn’t do any tricks other than “eat dog food”, she is the best dog I have ever had. Period, bar none.

My family has a golden doodle. He’s the best dog I’ve ever known. Very mild mannered, loves to cuddle, loves playing with my son. But he’s on the skittish side. We think it’s cause we rescued him from a puppy mill

I just don’t want mountains of hair like we had with the yellow lab I grew up with. He’s been gone for 3 years and I still see his hair at my parents house.

Great dogs, a mix of way too smart and a bit silly/dumb at the same time. They do need attention and walks though or they will get rambunctious, especially at a young age. Luckily they don’t shed so that’s good.

So I work with dogs.....

First: it should be goldoodle or goodle. It’s not. But it should.

Second: I’m not a huge fan. They’re nightmares as puppies like all retrievers. They require grooming regularly. They’re not necessarily hypoallergenic like people think. Typically they’re less allergenic but the fur type is what matters. They’re really expensive for what is basically a mutt with a “cute” breed name. They’re all the same. Every single one is just like the other I know, just different sizes. Kinda goofy. Kinda smart. Often annoying because they have a ton of energy (2 breeds of working dogs mixed) and no one ever puts in the amount of work they really require.

In all, they’re not bad dogs and most people like the white bread approach to dogs so they go: lab, golden, doodle. But over/bad breeding and general lack of effort into training because people think they don’t need it since they’re labs/Goldens/doodles mean I’ve dealt with a lot of badly behaved dogs. Nearly every issue I’ve ever had with dogs have either been labs or golden retrievers. I’ve never had issues with Goodles except people don’t train them well enough or exercise them enough.

If I had to sum it up: they’re not bad dogs. They require more work than people realize. Just like any dog, if you put in the work while they’re young you’ll usually get a good adult dog but you have to exercise them. They’re expensive to buy and need grooming.

My dad has one and it’s an extremely energetic dog and very mouthy. It’s about two years old and it still acts like a puppy. They put him in classes and he still doesn’t listen at all. He’s not very good with my kids. The only dogs I’ve ever had are two rescued pits and they were much easier to train and much better behaved than this dog. There are tons of dogs in shelters that are going to be killed. Go adopt one of them.

I recently moved in with a friend that has a Labradoodle (due to his issues with dander mainly) She’s smart, well trained and an extremely good dog. The hair weirds me out as it feels like human hair, but there’s little to no dog hair or any dander issues if that’s the concern.

According to the AKC, they are considered a mixed breed. Yes, that is correct.
