Challenge: you get one car for the rest of your life. You can’t replace it with a newer version but you can repair it if you can afford to.

What do you pick? What car would be the most versatile and go the longest without leaving you stranded?

I vote the Chevy Tahoe. Hauls a family nicely, can tow, and the 5.3L V8 is a proven engine of longevity.

What do you think?

An Audi RS6 C6 Avant (in blue). I know “German quality isn’t what it used to be” BS, but you said forever car. I believe I could afford to do most of the work myself or with some help. Plus it is big enough to get me and my crap around, maybe children eventually, and that V10 would be forever hoonable. That would be a great forever car.

Agreed on the fullsize GM SUV, but I’d go GMT800 because more basic but still nice and no displacement on demand or tons of modules to potentially go wrong.

This is tough....

I think I’ll go something heavy duty:

Kinja'd!!!

F250 quad cab diesel. That should last awhile, and the aluminum should help keep the body together.

Yeah, I’d probably get an old one myself. As much as I’d enjoy the bump in hp and fuel economy, you’re dead on about the extra gizmos lol

If we’re going family hauler, it has to be a Land Cruiser. Sure, buy in price is high, but they literally last forever.

Chevy SS 6-speed manual.
Big enough for pretty much any duty, and still very fun to drive.

I was between the Tahoe and the new expedition. Figured body panels might be easier to replace than a turbo engine. But if the expedition gets the F150s upcoming diesel V6, I’d probably change my answer

A Holden ute, since it’s not available in the USA of a I’d buy a manual SS and have it converted(there’s a company in California called Left Hand Utes that does it) If heavy modifications are allowed.

Honestly, I’d probably stick with my ‘09 Forester. I’d consider switching to the turbo version, but I have a feeling the non-turbo would be less finicky... Or maybe go diesel...
