Now that I have a purpose-built gaming PC, I went ahead and bought myself Forza Horizon 3. This is my first encounter with any game in the series. Holy crap, I like it SO MUCH MORE than Gran Turismo. I mean, FH3 and GT6 have vastly different objectives, and I should compare GT6 and Forza 6, rather than Horizon, but I can’t help but feel that Forza is just better .
I’ve had the game for three days now and after some performance issues that I had to sort out on day 1, the game plays perfectly smooth and looks great. The level of customization is what I like the most. Want a Nissan 370z with a V8? Okay, you can do that. Want a 300HP AWD Fiesta ST? Done! And the sound . Sometimes I just like driving around and listening to the cars wind out. Each car sounds different and great in its own way. Of course, if you add a turbocharger to a previously NA car, you’ll be able to hear the turbo spool up. Different exhausts give different tones (all of which sound excellent). It’s the attention to detail that I love.
Here’s a screenshot of my Maserati A6GCS/53 Pininfarina Berlinetta that I snagged from the Auction House for 200,000 credits (originally 2,000,000).
Definitely one of my favorite games. If you haven’t played Forza or are a long time Gran Turismo fan that has gotten bored, I can definitely recommend this game.

You later get the Maserati for free, being one of the barn finds cars. It does take its sweet time to get restored however

I didn’t get this game (and an Xbox One) until about three weeks ago. I’m addicted. As much as I loved Forza 4, this game takes my passion for that and multiplies it substantially.
Let me put it to you this way: it’s so good, I’ve managed to get a few of my non-car guy friends to get it and start playing because they played mine when the were at my house. They’re all trying to learn about cars, specifically those in-game, to be able to talk to me about cars.

For the future make sure to check the barn find silhouettes before buying cars from the auction house. It will save you a bit which can be better spent on a 1000HP Twin Turbo LS Swapped Golf GTi or something.

Horizon was great... until you reach the end game and start noticing the lack of content. Granted GT6 didnt have much to offer beyond just lapping the various amazing tracks, and where forza has always shined is in customization.
Play with enough cars, and you’ll start to notice just how few variations of engine note there actually are (still more than Polyphony’s universal vaccuum cleaner); how untechnical most of Australias roads seems to be; how most players tend to just swap V12s into everything.
But as far as a casual game, it’s amazing. Lots of fun every now and then when you need a break.

All the silhouettes seem to be a generic one of a sedan. Lol I will sell the barn-find Maserati I guess and make my money back, but it’s nice to have it early in the game at least.

Yes! I used to be into the more hardcore driving game scene. I loved Gran Turismo 4, 5, and 6 because of how realistic they were. While Horizon isn’t as realistic, it’s realistic enough for me and is just plain fun. Who doesn’t like driving an Audi R8 off of a cliff at 150mph and fly 650 feet through the air???

Love the game as well - only had it for about a week, but have literally been playing it daily because I can’t pull myself away! The graphics are glorious and the customization and car lists are wonderful. It’s leaps and bounds better than FH2 in every way.
