Trout opens on saturday!! Saw dicks had these buy 3 get 1 free so I picked a few up on lunch. Any other anglers??

dude!! I know! I grew up in an area with some great fast water walleye and small mouth action. Use to get bored of reeling in 30 in alleye and 18 to 20 inch smalls all day! but the area I’m in now doesn’t offer up the opportunity for walleye with out a boat.. we are surrounded by trout/salmon streams how ever.

In-fact my medium heavy single piece river rig is affectionately known as the walleye slayer and not just by me. for our waters these things were like gold

nothing like a F11 in gold for some fast water to drive them home! come a week before season starts till fall you could not find them in the area, mostly because me and my buddy would acquire them all.

I miss those days.. fuck trout..

I pretty much stick to fly fishing. I catch so many more fish that way. Once in a while I’ll throw a lure or bait into a lake but would rather spend my time re-enacting a river runs through it.

no offense but I loath most fly fishermen I meet in real life. they are stream hog’s and jerks. luckily most of the area’s I hit up for trout make fly fishing a bit too tricky with out the proper head room for such nonsense.

That’s okay, I feel that way about most fly fisherman too. I never got into the fly fishing sub culture so I hope I haven’t become a jerk.

yeah I might go cast in an area I know they are coming close to the shore this time of year. They just annoy me after the first or 2nd one caught. Slimey, smelly, toothy, ornery sons of bitches.. lots of fun to catch but since I see no food value in them I release them which means dealing with their nasties. see with walleye atleast they aren’t as bad tempered and they aren’t half as nasty to deal with, plus they taste good so i usually stab em in the head before i take the lure out so less biting well from them any ways.. NOM NOM NOM..

Nice. I would be totally down to try it but the way those people behave is such a turn off. I had an old man try to fight be because we got with in 30 yards of him once.. dude you can’t just claim 50 yards of stream... he started wading out so no one could cast out. I almost had it in me to hook the bastard.

I do it because it’s fun and I catch a fuck ton of fish. I tend to stick to smaller creeks and rivers where fishing with other gear would be difficult. Bigger water requires more gear, better casting, and getting out into the water a bit, I don’t like to wade much, mostly just fish from shore or some rocks in the stream.

if you hate fish you’d think you’d enjoy hooking them in the face all the more! but yeah I hear you. I enjoy fishing, learning new techniques and styles and shit. I dig it all. But really it’s just about killing time out on/in the water. I hated golf too much so I decided I’d fish is basically what happened in my late teens.

me too. that spot looks soo amazing! that’s the sort of waters I like to fish but round here it’s all either smaller than that streams or ponds/lakes or really big lakes.

Don’t go as much as I’d like but my dad and I try to get out to The River (The Missouri for you non South Dakotans) a couple times a year, plus a few of the area lakes, and we take a trip to Canada every year, which I’ve been doing for 17 years now. Dad is a hardcore Walleye guy, which he’s instilled in me, but on our Canada trip we’ll Northern fish when we want to change things up, or need a little more excitement. Dad is also a very hard core bottom bouncer/spinner kind of guy, jigs don’t work great around home, and pullin plugs is lazy man fishing (but can be effective when you just want to fill your limit).

That stream is right along a major road through Glacier National park and nobody fishes it. I go out there and just kill it catching cut-throat trout.

I used those when I used to fish a lot about 15-20 years ago....

They pull a lot when they spin, and you feel the vibrations in the rod.

It was my go to trolling lure.

I only used the silver or gold ones. Since the only thing I wanted to catch was pike or pickerel(walleye)
