I see he’s going modern with it and going to use that missing headlight hole in order to get more air into the engine.

that should be a fun little car. you guys going to do any upgrades to the engine while it is still out?, or just bolt and go?.....

I think he has a cam lying around. but the headers are already worth more than the car.

surprising as it is, its gotten hard to find a vega with a straight body and title. LAST time that i was in the market, i couldnt touch one for less than around $1000, still needing the front end put back underneath it, with the stock 4 cyl, dents, and an auto. NICE FIND there......

The story goes: Some one got this “minty” vega for $500 bucks and when it arrived it was this “shitty” vega, and he got it hauled to the wrecker, tow truck driver know’s buddy and dropped it off for the scrap price.

thats even better, alot of the time, i feel a bit bad when cutting something clean up. when the price is THAT good, there is nothing lost, anything goes. are you guys going to do anything about the rear end? or just wait until you scatter it, after you find some sort of traction?

i would highly recommend just cutting down a 9 inch ford rearend. if you had a decent chop saw, and a good stick welder, it would go pretty quick.. from what i recall off the top of my head, i have heard that they(9 inch) can handle right in the neighborhood of 600 horses( maybe a slight bit less after you cut the axles(new custom length 9 inch axles run around $500)). more than what you need, but you would never have to revisit it.

Totally depends on what 9" you are talking about.

WAR case won’t hold much, N case will hold a lot. WAR cases are weak at the pinion pilot bearing. Torino housing holds more. Daytona pinion support holds more power too. Cutting and re-splining axles may not be worth the trouble if you only have an open diff.

YES, good information, and those not much WAR housings still hold a whole lot more than an s10 rear end. i usually try to find a good 31 spline carrier and axles, they have the larger bearings. the older stuff that is easier to find with limited slip stuff is usually the 28 splines.
