Well I’m British and as you may or may not not know, we kind of have a problem with fake M badges and by problem I mean a fucking epidemic of biblical proportions of which the world has never seen before.
I see some form of fake M badges at least 3 times a day and where just a few years ago it was just the fake M badge in the wrong place on the boot as of late the poseurs around these parts have really gone above and beyond. The most popular styling choice is the the striped kidneys you’re looking at and everytime I see them I die a little inside so yeah....
Get them if you want because in the end it is your car and you shouldn’t care what others think, even me but do know that:

Trust me there are worse options. I’ve seen X3's with M door sills, 320's with M automatic shift joysticks, 525's with M steering wheels, and I’m sure a lot more that are just as bad.

I’m gonna go against the others. I actually like them. They’re a nice touch without being too ‘hey look at me’ and are better than putting M badges everywhere. At the end of the day it’s your car.

I just used multicolored electrical tape and used a xacto knife to cut to the chrome trim. If I ever don’t like it, I can always remove it.
And so far its held up really well, I’ve had it on for a couple weeks now and taken it through the car wash a few times (because its to cold to do it myself), and its held up just fine.

Not sure what car the ones in the pic at the top of this post are for but some Bangle-era BMWs had the flat top kidney grilles.
My only guess is whatever car the ones at the top are for is trying to mimic this style.
