I never understand why some people claim to take “pride” in something they had no influence on. it’s as dumb as me saying I’m “proud” to be human. yeah, it’s not like I really had to work at it.

I have a feeling this might actually be intended as satire of exactly what you’re talking about.

I firmly believe that only immigrants are really able to have national pride. After all, if you were born there and never lived anywhere else, how can you possibly decide that it’s the best?
