Kinja'd!!!

All because I said I didn’t like the Abarth version. I got accepted into a closed 124 Owner’s group on Facebook and decided to share this picture to introduce myself and my 124. About 80-90% of the comments were basically “Why didn’t you get an Abarth?!?”, which is nothing new because I hear that all the time. I simply said I didn’t like the front end of the design and didn’t think it would age well, plus I didn’t feel like paying $7k for 4hp and some shocks + sway bars. Ten minutes later and the Admin banned me and messaged me saying I wasn’t welcome. Oh well, I tried. Guess the 124 owners aren’t as inclusive as the Kappa owners. *shrug*

Thanks for being way more friendly, Oppo!

EDIT: I was not rude or insulting towards the Abarth trim. I just said I didn’t like it and didn’t feel worth paying more. To all Abarth owners, enjoy your car, I’m happy for you. Just not how I would personally spend my money. They are both great though.

I feel you would of left the group very soon anyway. They did you a favour.

Some of these groups can be absolute a-holes.

Which is good, because it keeps those a-holes away from other sites.

Can we get the mods in here, please? This guy needs to feel the gentle caress of the banhammer.

Just kidding, nobody here cares about your non-Abarth 124 or your reasons.

You got rid of a Kappa for Italian pain?

My friend has a classic Mini in Honolulu. He joined a Mini club and I went with him, it was all people with BMW Minis and I was like really? I think I asked one of them if there were any other old Minis and I started getting looks haha. Eventually he did find a weird British guy hoarding all kinds of old Minis of various types.

You can take my pictures of my Solstice and go troll them with it.

Then call it a 124 Arbarth group.

My response probably would have been “ I like my car”

That sounds a lot like MJW (Modified Jukes Worldwide) & JOG (Juke Owners Group). I find FB car groups are very sensitive. I like the NISMO Juke but for the money, you can get a non-NISMO + mods for less then a NISMO.

Sounds identical to my reasoning against the Abarth: you can get a Classica + more capable mods for cheaper than an Abarth.

And I must have just been lucky with some Facebook groups so far. The EcoBoost Stang, Kappa, and Supra people are all really cool.

I could, but then it would just eat away at me that I don’t have a Kappa anymore.

Speaking of Solstices, I almost thought about buying this one until I saw it wasn’t a GXP and was about $15k more than I want to pay for a GXP. Not sure the girlfriend would have been happy giving up the house down payment though...

But I love my new Fiata...

Ugh, she was so perfect! Such a blast! Wonderfully modified and handled so well. Just was getting old with a few gremlins being a pain and I didn’t have the room or time to keep her with the other cars. *goes to cry in a corner and mourn over not having a Kappa*

I can see the NISMO RS. You get a better chassis, better transmission, a LSD, and great Recaros. The NISMO is just an appearance & suspension package.

There, there, it will all be ok. We all need to have one car that we can say, “I never should have gotten rid of...” when we get old. :)

I still want to have a Kappa ownership experience in my lifetime. Need to make some room before that can happen, though.

That is stupid! You were giving you reasons. Plus the front isn’t as nice with all that black plastic. I want the Abarth, but if we got the Italian Abarth and I could get it in blue. Otherwise it is a hard sell.

Same here. Eventually I will have my Kappa. Preferably a Redline in Midnight Blue

I think they are banking on the rarity, because an NA coupe is indeed ultra rare.

Still wouldn’t pay that much though.

I’m sorry, did that say $55k for a Solstice? Forgive me for not paying attention, but I thought those cars were maybe in the $20ks if they were nice.

Kinja'd!!! "Z (ND + Cancer Fighter)" (roadsterzach)
03/29/2017 at 13:11, STARS: 1

Yes, they are asking $55k for a car worth maybe $30-35k.

However, it is one of only 20 Solstices made for 2010; and out of those 20, only 12 Coupes were made. 2010 was also the mid-cycle update year for the Kappa platform, so it has some nice changes (push start, keyless entry, independent bluetooth, etc). To top it off, the one listed for $55k is Kinetic Blue, which was a new color for 2010 - and only 7 Kappas were made in Kinetic. So it does have some rarity going for it, they are just overvaluing it.

As for Solstices value, they are dropping nicely (Auto’s on the lower end, Manuals on the higher end - in similar condition):
06-07 Soft Top N/A: $4-6k
06-07 ST GXP Turbo: $6-8k
08-09 Soft Top N/A: $5-7k
08-09 ST GXP Turbo: $8-10k
2010 Soft Top N/A: $20-25k (Only 3 in Existence - All 3 Autos)
2010 GXP Turbo: $25-30k (Only 5 in Existence - 1 Auto, 4 Manual)

09 Coupe N/A: $20-25k
09 Coupe GXP Turbo: $25-30k
2010 Coupe N/A: $30-35k (Only 3 in Existence - All 3 Manual)
2010 Coupe GXP Turbo: $30-40k (Only 9 in Existence - 5 Auto, 4 Manual)

I’m surprised they’re that high, but I guess they were actually decent vehicles and they’re exceedingly rare.
