Does anyone have anything to say about EBC greenstuff? I’m thinking about putting them on with Centric rotors.

Kinja'd!!!

Also, just take a moment to take in the festively Christmas brake pads. Yes, yes.

Dusty. But work very well.

Ooohh! And how do they compare to the yellow stuff line? Please add this as I’m getting new pads soon and would like to know the difference.

I have steelies. So bring on the dust!

Is it wrong that I like the idea of having lime green pads??

If only its dust was green (or even red!), I’d be much more forgiving of brake dust...

I do too! Unfortunately with steelies and hubcaps you’d never see them on the car :(

Although I guess you would have red dust during the break in period!

They’re EBC’s least aggressive street performance pad, with RedStuff being the “medium” and yellow being more track focused.

I had a set of RedStuff on my old Mazdaspeed 6 and really liked them. They were much lower dust than the OE Mazda pads which were terribly dusty on that car, and stopped great.

Some folks on the BMW forums seem to think they’re crap and they dust like crazy and will separate from the backing on track days. But I think that’s one of those things where one person had one bad experience with a set of EBCs and it became the gospel that they’re terrible.

I had yellows on my Wrangler. I liked them. Worked much better than stock and lasted longer too.

I’m on my second set. They work well, noticeably better than the ordinary motor factor parts. This is on a light, not very fast car so it’s not too much of a challenge for them. There have been several formulations, so earlier criticisms may have been solved.

I have them as EBC are one of the only suppliers of upgraded pads for my car. If you have something more common there’s probably a wider choice.

How are the YellowStuffs on the street? Are they so aggressive that you’d need to switch back and forth with street pads?

I realize you never claimed to have owned YellowStuff pads, just curious what you’ve heard/read.

I haven’t used the YellowStuff myself. From what I understand they’re a dual purpose street/track pad similar to Hawk HP+.

I had HP+ on my Miata back in the day with slotted rotors, stainless lines, and Hankook RS-2 tires, and braking in that car was like dropping an anchor. But the HP+ were dusty as hell and did make some noise.

According to this , the YellowStuff may be easier to modulate than the HP+ but it doesn’t talk about dust. According to this , the YellowStuff dust more than the RedStuff but not a ton. They’re also a bit less grabby when cold, but that’s to be expected. The HP+ are also like that.

I’d say both of these pads are ok to drive on the street if you’re tracking your street car and want to have something that can handle both. If you have cold winters they may be a bit of a challenge. The noise and cold stops aren’t that bad but the HP+ are dusty. I live in Wisconsin but the HP+ on the Miata were ok because that car is so light and small that even with reduced cold braking they were enough.

Another option apparently like these is the Power Stop Track Day pads.

For autocross you can do a more street-oriented pad like the RedStuff since you’re not going fast enough to cook your brakes like on a proper track.

I loved the RedStuff on the street. They had almost as good performance as the HP+ but low dust, no noise, no cold stop issues. Maybe you can get them to break down on a track so if you’re going for that purpose choose something else, but I really liked them for a street car that occasionally got thrashed on a back road.

Thanks. My stock pads have held out fine so far, but I’ll upgrade to something else when these are gone.

If you’re generally happy with your stock pads and don’t do much in the way of track or autocross driving, I’d look mostly at fast street pads and skip things like YellowStuff or HP+. Instead I’d look at RedStuff, Hawk HPS 5.0, StopTech Sport, or Carbotech 1521.

BTW I didn’t explicitly mention this before but the GreenStuff kinda suck. Dustier than RedStuff and worse braking. Red is the way to go with EBC.
