I’m stuck in this. Even though it’s okay, what kind of bad decision in my past life did I do to deserve this?

Kinja'd!!!

And no, it’s not a top-of-the-line model or a Turbo.

It’s a rental. Did you expect a M3?

I would have expected a Legacy, at least.

Then you should have bought said Subaru in Seattle, taken your road trip, and then resold it upon your return. The way they hold their value around here you might even manage to make money.

My mom and I had one of these when we went to Universal for my graduation gift. The welcome and goodbye chimes will drive you up the wall by the third time you get in the car.

You didn’t do anything in a past life for this, you did something in your current life for this. It’s the result of selecting the wrong car class when reserving or accepting something they just gave you.

There is a lot of truth in this.

Fleets vary by agency. For some reason they gave me a crappy Kia years ago when I wanted a Subaru and they were trying to sell me on upgrading to one. I think they pulled that heap out of their “for sale” lot out front, though I have no clue what I did to deserve it.

If you’re in Sacramento, eat the following foods at the following places:

Sandwiches @ Cafe Rolle

Ice Cream (I like the freeze) @ Gunther’s Ice Cream

Black ramen @ Ryujin Ramen House

There’s plenty more, just let me know.

Also, them’s the breaks when you rent a car. I thought I was getting an Impala one time and I walked out to find yet another Camry similar to the one I drove to work and back. This one had alignment issues to boot.

A Sonata is perfectly fine for highway roadtrips. Comfy, quiet, good mileage, plentiful cup holders, decent enough infotainment.

You can even get a Subaru in a Seattle rental fleet on occasion.

This is exactly the sort of inoffensive, unremarkable car that makes up 90% of rental fleets.

Well, as a broke college student living near Sacramento, going to Seattle for breakfast was a little out of my price range.

Ouch— depends a lot on the city you’re renting in. Kayak/priceline do great in some cities— the last place I went I got a “full size” for $15 more per day than a compact, they were out so I got an upgrade to the V6 camaro they had on lot. Previous trip, there was nothing good and when I got to the rental kiosk they had rented out my car. I tend to sort by just convertibles to see if I can get a mustang vert for $65/day or so...

Why would you want to go to Sac? To pick up the car? I don’t even really like driving through Sac to get to Tahoe.
