The Swedish for estate/wagon is, rather wonderfully, “herrgårdsvagn” which literally means “estate vehicle” or “mansion vehicle”.

As Volvo Cars’ Swedish site puts it:

Herrgårdsvagnen från Volvo är en ikon i bilvärlden

Estatecars from Volvo are an icon in thecarworld (yes, thecarworld. They like their compoundnouns in Scandinavia).

Have an ikon.

Also, have a herrgård. Once private houses of baronial splendour, they tend to be hotels nowadays.

Something that I learned in Sweden if your house had a certain number of rooms it was considered a palace. So is a herrgård considered a palace or just a mansion?

That would depend on which herrgård you had in mind....

Most of them aren’t that big as stately homes go. The one in the picture would be typical.

That makes sense. The one I stayed in that my cousins have is larger than that one. They told me it is 1 bedroom away from being considered a palace. The close as I can come to relating would be a large mansion.
