Years ago I tried pulling the same stunt the raptor did on the front page. Only I did it in my 2WD Dakota and I got stuck. Took 2 hours of digging with a friend of mine to get it off the pile with my then girlfriend now wife laughing at me the entire time.

Not long after buying my beat-up Sierra (2WD) about a year ago, I took it in for new tires. Parking was limited, and I ended up backing into the last space available on the side, which was right next to their plowed snow pile. One wheel sat on a patch of ice, and that was all it needed to get stuck. Open diff confirmed.

My grandfather did that years ago to thaw out some frozen pipes from an unexpected September freeze.

And that begins the story of how my grandmother got the new kitchen she’d wanted for years...

Yes. The thing about water is that it freezes or turns into steam and occupies 600x more space than in its liquid form.

I always loved this body style of Dakota.

Yup my Dakota had an open dif. Even with the all terrain tires there just wasn’t enough bite in the rear to get the frame unstuck. We got as much as we could out from under it then had my buddy and some random passers-by sit right over the rear axle as I gunned it and managed to get it unstuck but I learned my lesson haha

That, and 100+ year old New England farmhouse floor joists are about as dry a piece of wood as you can get. My grandfather isn’t a small man, all 6'2" and 200lbs of him have been in fighting shape since the Marine Corps thanked him for his services at the end of WW2. Stuff him and a BernzOmatic into a cramped crawlspace and, well, the pipes were thawed. The linoleum melted a bit, but goddamnit he got the water running again, and grandma got the new flooring and appliances she’d wanted.

On the plus side, yours doesn’t come with the dumpster fire that is the top thread in that article.

I don’t know which prescriptions that guy has run out of refills on, but I hope he gets them soon.
