yep, thats a 1 mile back up for a red light. Thats the furthest I’ve ever dealt with. 90% of the traffic turns left and I go straight so once I get through that light it opens up a bit. Everyone pulls off in to the brakedown lane to allow highway traffic to get by, but then you get the assholes who try to cut in in the last second to bypass the line. Fuck those people

As an added bonus, at the bottom of the hill right at the lights in my lane, a broken down STi. I was going to pull over and help and them saw what sort of desecration that guy had done to the car. I’m pretty sure he brought this one upon himself.

There’s a stoplight I go through on my way home just after a bridge, normal commuter traffic has this light down. Like seriously figured out. The cars in the left lane going over the bridge? They are aiming for the two left turn lanes. Cars in the right lane? They’re going straight or turning right. They wait until after the turn lane has started to start filling up the left lane, then when the right lane starts to get backed up concentrate on filling up the left lane to make the right turn lane accessible as long as possible. It’s quite literally a beautiful traffic co-op driving method that gets a ton of cars through this intersection smoothly.

Then the weekends come. None of what I just said happens. Ever. Because Virginia.
