Chevrolet released the Grand Sport (GS) version in 1996 to mark the end of production of the C4 Corvette. The Grand Sport moniker is a nod to the original Grand Sport model produced in 1963. A total of 1,000 GS Corvettes were produced, 810 as coupes and 190 as convertibles. The 1996 GS came with the high-performance LT4 V8 engine , producing 330 hp (246 kW) and 340 lb·ft (461 N·m) of torque. The Grand Sport came only in Admiral Blue with a white stripe down the middle, 5-spoke black wheels, two red “hash marks” on the front driver’s side wheel arch and special seat trim providing a distinctive look. The Grand Sport also has wider tires and the coupes were outfitted with small rear fender flares.
i could be wrong and i’m sure it also could be added but I thought only the Grand Sports had the stripes.

the Grand Sport was the only C4 vette to get the hash marks from the factory, also its the only C4 vette to have factory stripes on it. The hash marks wouldn’t been seen until the C6 from Chevy

I’ve since learned that it’s got a sport package, although I’ve no idea wtf that actually means. I suspect it’s similar to the M-sport package with BMW which means they had some left over bits they want to unload, and in the Corvette case maybe it was some striping. Who knows.
I like it though. It’s a nice touch on an otherwise overly symmetric and colorless car.

The only thing that “sport package” might refer to are the Sports Seats, which would be the electrically adjustable ones, or the Z51 package that adds even stiffer springs and bigger front brakes. I would not call it analogous to the M-sport package.
I can absolutely guarantee that your stripes are aftermarket. I placed a couple on myself:

Sport package offers heavier electric seats effectively slowing the car down sounds about right. I’ve got them. Looks like there’s a memory function of some kind too. I wonder when they worked last. Based off appearance it’s been a while.

Well, it wasn’t called a sport package; there was nothing with that name for the C4 Corvette, or any Corvette IIRC. They are just...sport seats, though “GT seats” would have been a better name.
What do you mean, memory function? There are seat dials on the center console to control forward/back, up/down, and tilt (have to go look at mine, I don’t touch them often). Between those may be a ride control dial if you have the active suspension package (FX-3 for you). On the seat itself are controls for lower bolster width and internal air bladder inflation.

Oh they must be for the bolster and lumbar stuff then. I’ve got maybe three buttons by my right knee. They don’t appear to do anything but I might not have been patient enough as I thought they were memory positions.
I just discovered the seatbelt cinch buttons. Those work. Those things are great. Just be sure to adjust your seat forward before hitting them because it’s not an option after the fact. Good stuff.

Yup, those are the bladder controls. The air bladders on most seats are broken, so just keep that in mind. Either the pump doesn’t work or they don’t retain air.
