The poorest of poor-man storage enhancements.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m going to get some thin outdoor carpet to cover it...I thought I’d try to get as similar a color as I can, but I might just go black for the contrast.

Pretty much the only other thing I may do is add some tie down anchors to the top, but I’m not too concerned about that. It’s only plywood after all, I couldn’t use it for anything too heavy anyway.

Now to figure out a way to secure it to the floor besides gravity.

On some of the stuff we build for shows we coat plywood areas with a bedliner kind of thing. Pretty durable stuff on stages and things.

I thought about bedliner. I’m thinking because it’s inside, I’d want carpet for some possible sound deadening help.

Yeah that would be good. Might want to use a clear over it all so if it gets wet it doesn’t mess with the wood.

My project for this summer is to get some plywood and do a rear seat delete.

Anything you coat that with you will have to drive around and smell. If it bothers you, maybe throw a blanket over it.

Jelly, I was debating trying to get something like this together for my trip coming up, but I don’t think I’ll have time. Looks like it will just be unpacking and repacking for me! not a huge deal really and then I will have LOTS of room to sleep.

Looks like mine!

9.5" plus the OSB thickness makes it level-ish with the 2nd row folded flat. (2x material underneath 2nd row to level it) This is my temp sleeping platform until I can get (access to) the tools needed to make a proper one.

Yours looks stronger than mine. I’m 14" high to clear the tool boxes I bought, leveling it with the folded rear seats wasn’t a concern for me. Third row seat was useless to me, so doing something like this is the best thing I could have done...combined with the webbed ‘attic’ I bought I’ve got a ton of storage space now.

It’s quite nice to have the extra storage space. I primarily use it for tools and recovery gear. The material was also free, so no complaints there.

There’s a front piece of material to help keep the shear forces at bay:

Definitely overkill, but I used what was available. One day, it will get rebuilt properly!

Very similar to mine, I did a back too. My boxes are pretty wide though, so I don’t have full sides...the top is wider than the space between the wheel wells, so I’ve got the two outside vertical pieces about 16" deep, stopping at the wheel well. It’s good enough, but I wouldn’t put anything really heavy on it.
