We killed some time at Fresno State between our kids’ performances last night by walking around campus, and I thought I’d share some cool monuments. We have a large Armenian population, and the genocide is a big deal here. Imagine if Germany’s official diplomatic stance was that the Holocaust never happened, and the US went along with it for strategic reasons. I think the monument is amazing.

There are facts out there - you can see where the Armenian Genocide was done, and you can see Belsen, Auschwitz, and other camps. A government (including ours) should not deny facts. I really need to get my ass to Poland - my great aunt had a number tatooed on her arm. I owe it to her, at the very least.

you know, I find it kinda funny that some of the germans that i speak to hate talking about it and pretend it never happened.

I understand it was very horrible, but if we dont acknowledge history, we dont learn from the mistakes, and will probably repeat it in the future.

I’m not saying run around with swastikas, but neither is treating it like a ‘lost’ time the way to go either.

Acting like genocides never happened (cough Armenia, Native Americans), or straight up acting like it was justified (COUGH SERBIA) is disgusting and inexcusable.

I am not surprised. We also turn a blind eye to Soviet horrors for strategic reasons.
